Thanks, Dani. So a Converse sneaker in a size 10 at your height sounds great to me. No boats! Antje is 5’3” and I understand why she feels like she has boats on her feet with her size 9 shoe. Please give it another go – with boot cut jeans. I have 5ft 11 clients with size 11 feet in Converse and they look fab.

Quite right – I like the Pumas and Patagonia’s best.

Dani, I love Keens too - I actually own 4 pairs (3 of them are sandals and I pair is sort of a burgundy suede version of the one you posted in the other thread ). They are super comfy but they always seem so clunky on my feet (and I have small 6/6.5 sized feet). I used to live in CO where everyone sported earthy-crunchy or sporty shoes & sandals like Keens, Birkenstocks, Merrells, Chacos etc. They would wear them with hiking style shorts or cargo pants. I find this look much harder to pull off now that I live on the east coast.

I have a pair of mustard yellow retro looking Pumas that I wear with my straight leg jeans when I am going for the sporty look. BTW, I tried on the Privo Jetty at Nordstroms & loved them. Personally, I could see myself wearing them with some jeans.

Angie, I'm 5'10. These would be to wear with jeans (to the playground and other places that I will be chasing youngsters).

So just to confirm, the pumas Marianne linked to and the Patagonia ones are on the short list and noting else? The Prada scrunchies are not my style (and way above my budget )

Yooohoo! Fashion sneakers light my fire. LOVE them. Below are my thoughts:

o	Dani, remind me of your height.
o	Fashion sneakers come in two strains: sporty or retro. I personally prefer the retro, but that doesn’t mean that a sportier style can’t be fab. But there is sporty and sporty. Some sporty fashion sneakers are so “glonky” you might as well be wearing your Nikes.
o	Retro sneakers are more versatile than sporty fashion sneakers. Sporty fashion sneakers require casual tops, whereas retro sneakers don’t.
o	I like the last Patagonia style and Marianne’s pumas if that helps.

Shiny, I love the look of the Prada Scrunch sneakers. They are just urban enough to pass my personal “non-sporty” style rule. I did not find them comfortable though. Far too flat. Hands down I prefer my $39 Converse. But to answer your question Shiny, I like them in black best.

Personally I think that a vibrant color like the orange Dani is after can offset a more sporty design. Thus for me, the originally proposed one would still win out over the Puma ones, where the color only comes out in the logo stripe. But I'm curious to hear what Angie thinks.

Dani, I suspect they won't get a high AAR :(. I like the Patagonia ones you linked to.

I also own a pair of Skechers, but I don't really care much for them - the synthetic stuff on the inside is not breathable and there is no support.

What about other retro ones like Onitsuka tigers or Pumas like these:

Thanks for the suggestions...Antje, I reread the thread you posted and Angie specifically mentions Keens as gear so I'm guessing they're a no go. They are just so darn comfy!! I wear a 9.5 - 10 so Converse look huge on me as well.

I really liked that the Keens came in orange :)

What about these:

Hmmm. While my inclination was also to say "nay" to the original ones Dani posted (a little too much sole, especially in the toe area), in one of the bright hues they'd actually qualify more -in my book- as fashion sneakers than the Puma ones and are about on par with the Skechers, just different (the Skechers are more girly; personally I'm not a huge fan but I've seen some fun ones on others.)
The fashion sneaker question is difficult. I struggle with this myself since Converse just look way too huge on my size 9 feet. Here is a thread I had started months ago which contains some links and brand names that might be helpful, Dani. I still don't own any! http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....replies=19

I actually think some of the Skechers can be very cute - and I find them comfy:

http://zeta.zappos.com/product/7437155/color/3

http://zeta.zappos.com/product/7281992/color/14

... I don't currently own any, but I did try on link #2 this summer and nearly bought them...

If you want a total splurge, I tried on these Prada Scrunch sneakers in Paris.... they were uber-uber comfy, like wearing house slippers... they had them in a dark silver too.... but I passed since I knew I could always buy them in the US for cheaper:

http://www.neimanmarcus.com/st.....at14160738

Angie - what do you think of these sneaks? I'm not sure I'd wear them enough to justify $250... but if they were on sale, what do you think?

Edit to add: I see they come in a range of colors.... I don't really like black sneakers (except converse). If they met with your approval, and they went on sale, which color do you think would be most stylish?
