Major cameras. Mostly behind the velvet VIP ropes, at the end of the runway. With major lighting set-ups. </p> <p>After each set (there was 3 or 4 sets, each showing 3-4 designers) the models would come out and walk around the VIP area, so we could all get a closer look. Photos were snapping away. </p> <p>Nobody minded me snapping away too - in fact, the guy in the zipper jacket - the one of whom I have several photos - he was all excited when I said I was posting it to this blog. And also at last minute, I felt I needed a super-dark wash jean to pull the outfit together..... so I finally decided it was time to debut my SKINNY jeans! Check them out! </p> <p>The spectators: I was perfectly fine standing in them for several hours (we hit an art gallery reception before the fashion show, and then had a long wait in line - more on that later). However, there is something about the vamp that made actual *walking* in them very uncomfortable - especially after standing for two hours at the reception. DH had to slow his pace way down for me. And then at the end of the evening (around 1:30 am) he chivalrously gave me his shoes to schlep the 6 blocks back to the car. </p> <p>*Despite* those issues, I got tons of compliments on the shoes, all night long. So they are keepers. I will just have to be selective about when I bring them out! </p> <p>Moving on ....</p> <p>We arrived when the doors were supposed to open, to find a very long line, and the doors closed. However we made good use of the time standing in line and met some very nice people, who happily agreed to let me photograph them for YLF. (You'll see them in the slideshow link above).</p> <p>Finally the doors are open and we make it inside. At this point I needed to bolt to the bathroom, where I met these two ladies - their dresses are from H&#38;M and I loved the tights and booties!</p> <p>Angie - I asked permission to post these photos and told *everyone* I met about your blog and forum. So don't be surprised if you get a bump in traffic. </p> <p>We were in the VIP section, just one row behind the Ultra VIPs - the buyers and the press. Before the show started, I spotted this man and asked if I could photograph him because I absolutely adored his specs. </p> <p>Turns out that two of the stylish ladies we met in line were buyers, and sitting right in front of us. We had fun all night debating about which outfits were appropriate for a woman my age. I hope you don't mind me giving them a special plug here - their shop is called Chell Bella in Hingham, MA - so I will definetly be visiting their shop one of these days!<br /> <a href="http://www.chelbella.com/" rel="nofollow">http://www.chelbella.com/</a></p> <p>Sitting next to us was the mother of one of the models (noted in slideshow) - and she was exhausted, having driven up earlier in the day. </p> <p>Onward with the fashion show!</p> <p>There were numerous designers, with breaks between. I cannot remember all of them, and there was no progam. </p> <p>There was a menswear designer who did interesting things with zippers and the blazers had cool pockets for your ipod or iphone. I believe this designer's name is James Martinez, because I have a business card in my purse. I hope I'm not confusing designers, because we talked to many of them at the after party (and I tend to expire after midnight). I know we talked to this designer in particular because he offered to design an outfit just for me, if I like. ;-)</p> <p>After the break, the next show was menswear by Bobby Garnett. I didn't take any runway photos because I was absolutely captivated. Then I realized Bobby Garnett is THE Bobby of Bobby's of Boston. This is a vintage clothing store here. So none of the clothes were new designs - they were all vintage items. But the wow factor was that Bobby has such an excellent eye, every single outfit that came down the runway could be worn today, this season - it's all "In" again! </p> <p>The lesson is what I think is one of Angie's philosophy: choose carefully and you will build a wardrobe that will truly last a lifetime - and longer. Fads may come and go, but good design is good design and it's always in fashion!</p> <p>We spoke to Bobby for a long time at the after party. My DH is a huge fan of his store, and I can always count on finding something for his xmas present there - and even if I don't own much vintage, I just adore 40s. Meeting him was a major highlight of the evening. </p> <p>Next up was this 80s retread of the whole neon thing. The model's mom (sitting next to me) and I were shaking our heads and saying no, no, NO!! We did this before and we're NOT doing it again. But it was fun to see - maybe for the younger crowd. </p> <p>Very long night but I would do it again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend if one of these events comes to your area. We had a blast. </p>
