I’m not personally a fan of looking like you’re going to the gym if you’re not. But I’m probably a hypocrite because on days off all my winter I wore ponte biker pants and Skechers. Yes, there were many accessory stores in Paris with a huge selection of guitar straps for bags, and I saw them worn often enough to want one. We lived 10 minutes walk from the Old town and the Venetian harbor. Very touristy, busy but not too crowded since the season was closing to the end. We absolutely adore it!<div>I was happy to see that more than a half of tourists were people of retirement age or close to it. &nbsp;I was more interested in seeing their fashion choices than those of the younger folks who employed current trends. And the trends are so predictable and the same everywhere - high waisted jeans, denim shorts, fitted cropped tops, all worn with chunky sneakers.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;We’ve seen a lot of it.&nbsp;</div><div>What I notices is that people generally more dress up especially in the evenings when dining. It’s not like they were wearing particularly dressy things. Lots of good quality linen, some silk, cotton. White and blue was a popular choice of tall, blond people speaking some Scandi languages Not a lot of denim although weather permitted. And almost no gear clothes. Maxi and midi dresses, wide leg pants, flowing tops or shirts worn to my surprise with nice sandals, sometimes with small heels. Sneakers were present but not as much as on younger women.&nbsp;</div><div>I also noticed that light makeup was frequently worn. Grey hair were only on tourists, I maybe saw one or two local women with natural color hair. Not a thing there, apparently.&nbsp;</div><div>I took a few makeup pieces myself but only occasionally wore lip pencil with a lip balm. So, another thing I didn’t use! I was inspired to see almost every woman had on some kind of jewelry. I usually don’t take much and hardly use it anyway but did here. My DH bought me a small gold and pearls necklace as a gift for my upcoming birthday and a memento.&nbsp;</div><div>Aside from a surprise and pleasure of seeing many nicely dressed people, I had another discovery - crossbody bags with guitar straps. They appeared very briefly here, in Toronto a few years ago but never were popular. Imagine my surprise seeing them everywhere in Crete! They were more common than a regular crossbody bags. Obviously, it’s still a big Euro trend.&nbsp;</div><div>Sorry, I don’t have pictures, uncomfortable to photograph strangers without their permission.&nbsp;</div><div>We flew there and back through Copenhagen. I watched the airport fashion and generally people looked much more pulled together while dressed comfortably. I thought of it walking through our Toronto airport, trying to figure out the difference. I mentioned to my DH that our North American travelers look like they all going to or coming back from a gym! I don’t know when a sweatshirt became more comfortable than a sweater.&nbsp;</div><div>Adding a few pictures of Crete. So many cats there, I made a whole photo album! :)</div> </p>
