Sorry to hear you are on crutches! Those flats from the Gap are nice and I was on Target this weekend and they had a good selection there as well.

I have a mild stress fracture in my left tibia caused by upping my mileage too quickly while training for a 10k. So 2 weeks on crutches (or until I can weight bare with no pain), and I start physical therapy Thursday which will determine when I can run again.

It's really mild, but they are having me stay off it because I asked what the quickest recovery path could be! I am hoping to at least still do the 5k in may instead of 10k, and my co-workers are highly concerned with if I will be able to participate in our softball league (I am co-captian).

Kendra, as a fellow size 8-8.5, I share your pain about Old Navy shoes. But luckily, more and more of them are becoming available in half sizes.

RE: the trouble with ballet flats, maybe you can find flats where the back of the shoe hits at a different place (maybe higher on the ankle). Taping moleskin to the back of the shoe might help a little, but you don't want to wear anything that gives you blisters.

I hope that your injury heals quickly, and take it easy in the meantime.

These are the shoes I saw at the gap:

http://www.gap.com/browse/prod.....pid=625331

http://www.gap.com/browse/prod.....pid=625349

They would be a great deal once you factor the 30% off from the GAP G&G promotion starting on Thursday...

Thanks for the advice Shana! I can't decide which bothers me more, not being able to run, or not being able to wear my cute pumps! *sigh* This will be a good practice in my self control...

Thanks for the tips on flat, I will have to check those out!

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your injury. Don't push it - I did that after I sprained my ankle and it ended up taking months and months to heal, all because I was being too impatient! I wore some ridiculous 3 in wedges to an event where I had to walk and walk all because I was so concerned about looking good. Boy, did I pay the price for that one. My advice - listen to your PT!!!

Target has all sorts of cute flats. I also saw some really pretty suede ones on sale at the Gap (in store) - in Persimmon, tan and gray and they were about $19.99 and under (I think the Persimmon ones were $14.99 or maybe even lower).

OMG I know the girls of AcademicChic give me flats envy!! I have had trouble with ballet flats in the past, they seem to always cut in to the back of my right heel, giving me a blister. But I will try again, I just wish Old Navy would carry 1/2 sizes!!! (I am an 8.5)

And I ok, I have a mild stress fracture in my left tibia caused by upping my mileage too quickly while training for a 10k. So 2 weeks on crutches (or until I can weight bare with no pain), and I start physical therapy thursday which will determine when I can run again.

Oh no! Hope you are okay.

I know you have some great items from Old Navy, so wanted to point out that they have a bunch of cute ballet flats right now. http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/category.do?cid=5523
Recently I've seen the girls from AcademicChic feature cute flats from both Old Navy and Target, so inexpensive options are out there if you need just one more pair.

Well I will be on crutches for at least 2 weeks, and who knows when I will be cleared to wear anything other than flats.

I will certainly need to get another pair of flats. Currently my options in my closet are:
1. Pink Converse
2. Red patent maryjane flat
3. Turquise flat with jewels on toes (dressier)
4. bronze, pointy, kitten heels (flat for me!)
5. Retired jogging sneaks
6. Navy Ked's wedge (questionable)

I also have a brown and black pair of tall boots with 1 inch heels.

I really don't want to live in jogging shoes for 2 weeks... how sad!! I will miss my pretty pumps... :(

Sorry had to vent about shoe withdrawl to people who may understand!
