Hidden snaps sewed in between buttons of button-down blouses to prevent gaping.

So glad I finally stopped in here - I was thinking of something else re: 'hacks'.

Anyway, I second the hair band around the belt to keep the end from flapping. I usually only do it when I have a jacket/sweater/vest over so no one can see. Maybe I need to invest in better colors . . .

I have a roll of Fashion tape and have used it to keep wide necklines actually taped to my skin so they don't get even wider and show bra straps.

I leave a little safety pin on the waistband of skirts that tend to rotate during wear. When I put them on I pin the top edge of the skirt to my hose or blouse or cami or whatever to keep the skirt in line.

Question about the wipe outs... are they for the actual yellow stains or deodorant build up, or just for the deodorant that ends up on your clothes after you put the dress/blouse on right after applying the deodorant... cuz if it's the later, that wipes off really easily with a damp washcloth.

Isabel, you're a genius! I'm totally going to try the hair elastic thing next time I wear one of my ridiculously long belts- I have a number of them because my hips are so much wider than my waist that if I want to wear a pants belt at my waist, I have to punch another hole much farther in. The dangly ends drive me nuts!

Hi Steph and Sparky, the tape, for me at least, works better for skinny belts, though I suppose you could put several strips on a wide a band.

With the hair elastic, you put your belt through it, like you put the belt through a belt loop, and it becomes another adjustment loop on the belt to secure the end after you buckle it. ( Slide the elastic toward the buckle end. ) You can do the same with a watch strap, if you need another loop to keep the band end down. For skinny belts, you can double the elastic the way you would for a ponytail. You are basically adding a "loop" to your belt to thread the end through. It works beautifully and there are so many hair elastic colors that you can find one to blend right in.

I will post a picture tomorrow for you to "see". It is hard to explain without a visualization.

Isabel, I have to second the thanks. I own and use fashion tape yet I have never considered using it for belts. Can you expound on how you use the hair elastics on the belt? I'm having trouble visualizing.

Thanks also for the Wipe Outs suggestion--I had never heard of them.

I'm trying to think of more hints/things I use, but can't think of anything else. In a pinch, you can sometimes get rid of deodorant stains by rubbing the stained part of the shirt on another, unstained part of the same shirt. I don't know why rubbing with its own fabric works, but it (sometimes) does. For anyone who will get this reference--I learned that from Isaac Mitzrahi on MTV's House of Style.

Isabel!! Thank you so much for those tips! I have several belts with ends that curl out and drive me to distraction ~ fashion tape is the perfect solution, which I would never have thought of myself. Thank you for these specific ideas on uses for fashion tape ~ I need to get some now. The wipe outs sound great too!

MO, I am small chested ( man boobs, I call them ) and I use it for wrap dresses or shirts, for lapels, for the slingback part of slingback shoes, for belts ( to keep the end down ).

toddlers' small hair elastics the color of belts to keep the end tucked in

wipe outs for deodorant stains plus ( I LOVE this !! ) Not only does it get rid of deodorant stains, but almost any residue. I once got salt and sand ( from my car during a bad winter ) on black pants and this got it right out. I use it on suede too.

I am sure I have fashion tape in a roll like scotch tape. You just cut the length you need and away you go. I also have a U plunge bra and an extender to make it lower back for a gown or two that were cut almost to the waist at the back. Much better than the special surgical tape thing I tried another time or the nubra that never left the house.

in fact, the other day I asked my son, who works at Walgreen's, if they carried them and if he would pick me up a set..... um, ya... he didn't quite respond with "sure Mom, I'll grab those for you today ;-)"

Those Second Base camis are an absolute godsend. Particularly in the summer, but I wear them year-round. My wardrobe would not function without them!

http://www.shopsecondbase.com/

Interesting about the tape, Mary. Now I feel like a real dope because I just threw some out. Had no idea how I would use it.

Oh, and bra strapper thingies! These have been amazing for summer racerback tanks. I got them at Walgreen's in the "Seen on TV" section - with all those Japanese knives that are supposed to enable you to create flowers out of cantalopes
