I just love this. </p> https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/fashion-era-challenge-the-40s#post-1470833 Wed, 08 Apr 2015 15:10:42 +0000 rabbit 1470833@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ <p>I had a hard time with this one. &nbsp; I'd been watching Agent Carter, but was severely lacking in short nip-waisted tweed or wool&nbsp;blazers and shoulder pads, and collared blouses and button-up shirts --&nbsp;really 80's dressing and 40's has a big overlap in this regard. &nbsp;</p> <p>I'd also been thinking about the code breakers at Bletchley Park &nbsp;(3/4's of the workers there were women):&nbsp;<br /><a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2015/01/25/bletchley-park-enigma-female-codebreakers_n_6532856.html">http://www.huffingtonpost.co.u.....32856.html</a>&nbsp; &nbsp;(There was actually a&nbsp;uniform that involved a navy A-line skirt, lace up oxfords, a white blouse, men's navy tie and beret --- but my closet didn't have it).</p> <p>So I decided to go with&nbsp;trousers -- although I think they were mainly for factory work and leisure time? &nbsp;At least one of 'Dilly's Girls' in the article talks about buying some to the horror of her father. &nbsp;Round-toed heeled shoes&nbsp;and not quite PPL.</p> <p>I tried two jackets (Mr. Rabbit said I looked like a volunteer going to fight in the Spanish Civil War in the first shot -- just before the 40's). &nbsp;I also went with a cross-over blouse under my most cropped cardigan. &nbsp;Later I remembered I have a coral short sleeve cotton button-up that might have worked too.&nbsp;</p> <p>Longer hair would have worked a little better for the roll-back and pin operation -- but at least I had the red lipstick!</p> <p>Some inspiration pictures too -- the group shot was the personnel of one of the Bletchley huts.</p> <p>ETA: adding this awesome culottes and loafers photo which I didn't end up using as inspiration but deserves to be seen.</p> </p>
