Neatnic, neither of my sweater dresses look right over jeans. I just can't pull that look off, unless the sweater is more tunic-length (i.e., more of a mini-dress).

I'm now thinking that I'll wear a skirt, blouse, and jacket to the christening, and just bring along jeans so I can simply swap out the skirt for jeans. And yes... I may even be able to do that in the car.

If it's not too warm for the sweater dress, you could add denim skinny jeans after the christening to dress it down. Perhaps a wrap or shirt dress would work in the same manner if its warmer.

I'd just change when I got there, too. Actually, I'd probably change in the car! I'm a pro at doing this. It's surprisingly easy.

The sweater dress was first thing that came to my mind too, except it looks like it's going to be 50 degrees and sunny, so I don't know... it may be too warm. (Yes 50 degrees feels warm to me these days!!)

Sinead may have the best idea.... I may just have to change. Actually when I think about it, I am guessing my daughters will want to change too - no way I can get them to stay in a dress all day long.

I second Laura's suggestion Shiny. Your beautiful sweater dress was the first thing that came to mind.

Your sweater dress might do the trick - sweater dresses always feel a little more comfy than a regular dress, and slightly less dressy, don't you think?

I would just take along a casual outfit and tell everyone "We just came back from a christening- where can I change?"

For the christening could you wear a simple black pencil skirt in a matte fabric with one of your great jackets, a knit top underneath and heels, maybe dressed up further with a beautiful silk scarf? Then for the b-party change to a denim jacket with the same knit top under it, remove the scarf and change into flat shoes or boots? You could add a more casual knit scarf or even a bandana.
You could arrange a large scarf under a jacket for the christening so that the knit top doesn't show at all and even get by wearing a graphic tee.
This is a challenge!

Saturday I have a fashion challenge: we are attending two very different events on the same day. There will be no time for a wardrobe change in between. I am stumped about what to do, and could use YLF forum creative genius here. :-)

The first event is a christening, followed by a christening party. I am thinking it requires a dress or skirt. Definetly no jeans.

The second event is an early St Patrick's Day party/birthday party.
There's no time to change because we have to drive a long way to make this bday party - and it's not optional because it happens to be my BIL who's having the bday!!! At most, I could swap out shoes or accessories in the car on the way.

I guess I don't mind overdressing for the second party. The people who will attend are uber-casual/sporty types - a logo-tee, baseball cap, sneaker and jeans type of crowd. I would usually go smart casual anyway. But, I will feel totally out-of-place if I look like I just came from church. :-(

Suggestions?
