goodness, what an education I'm getting ;-)
I need to run, but when I get back I need to post a pic of some cars that are all over in my son's Ireland pics and ask what they are.....

now I must go fire up my "people carrier" and get on with my day

I would say the one Louise posted is indeed a typical "modern" american station wagon. Of course, the old ones like what the Brady Bunch rode in are what we typically think of when we think station wagon.
These days I'd say a mini van is more of the classic "family car" here in the states.

Mo - the one Louise posted is probably the closest we get to a station wagon in this country.

Louise - I've only just read your reply on Julie's thread - how funny! I don't think my post was really appropriate in the context of the thread - it really was too flippant, so I'm glad it at least made you laugh. We sold our hot hatch to get the estate...

Sort of, but not really. subarus are more of a weather related car choice, at least where I live, due to the 4WD. My mom had a station wagon. I'll try and find a pic online like it to show you .http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_8.....-1980.html

I didn't post on Julie's thread as it would probably get swallowed up but here's a picture of an estate car in the english sense http://www.autotrader.co.uk/cl.....?logcode=p is it the same as an american station wagon? x
