I wrestled SO hard with returning those shirts because I do love the silhouette. And I really loved the look of these tucked in. The downside for this shirt was that the exaggerated shape at the hem would 'grab' my bum, and the collar would slide back -- the shirt wouldn't stay forward. Recipe for constant fiddling. I will most definitely keep an eye open for something similar but using the lessons learned from these to evaluate! It has to work beyond playing in the mirror. I think the the reach test issue is because the arm holes are very deep and the shirt also comes up at the sides. This makes it look good in hands in pocket poses but I would always be thinking about exposure -- which just seems wrong in such a voluminous shirt.Also, the back is cut with an interesting detail that kind of 'cups' at the bum, but sometimes it catches on said bum, meaning it's shirt one would always be fiddling with.</p> <p>Thanks, Jaime! And I’ve been shopping and returning at a breakneck pace as a distraction!</p> <p>Which bring me to today’s revelation. </p> <p>I became obsessed with the slouchy borrowed from the boys vibe of these French Connection pullover tops when I was looking for something long, loose, and blue to wear over these cheeky floral pants. </p> <p>Vamping in front of the mirror, I adore these shirts. (I bought multiples because I could not pick a fave). The only probleM is that I never quite got around to wearing them. Because they are SO loose I wind up feeling like they could blow up over my head in a strong wind. </p> <p>And I have willfully been ignoring the fact that they don’t pass the overhead reach test. Grabbing something from a top shelf in the grocery store would definitely expose my soft underbelly! Wearing a tank underneath defeats the purpose and wasn’t thrilling me when I played around with it. I was not finding or making occasions to wear these shirts. </p> <p>Then I found exhibit 2. Talbots denim shirt via Marshall’s for a whopping $15. 100% cotton. Lightweight but not flimsy. Not slouchy but not super fitted. Too long and fitted to do a half tuck with it, but I that isn’t the primary purpose for it so that’s ok. </p> <p>Cut the tags and wore it today.</p> <p>I think I’m ready to put the obsession to bed and return the French Connection shirts. I will keep an eye out for the right menswear-inspired shirt that isn’t quite so extreme - and passes the reach test.</p> <p>I am slowly - ever so slowly - learning I don’t have to buy everything that fits! Ohm…Must be ppp - and realistic. Ohm…Must be ppp - and realistic.<br /> It’s a journey! </p> <p>Anyway, thanks for looking.
