In my fantasy the bathing suit is constructed to be completely opaque.</p> <p>I was thinking more on fantasies, and the truth is I do dress mostly as I like. Most of my fashion fantasies probably involve items of extreme cost, especially handbags and shoes. I guess I wouldn't mind being able to wear super skinnies (12" or less which fit like leggings on me) comfortably with shorter tops. I also like what I call the "naughty secretary" look, which I think is similar. But you know what, I bet you can pull it off, contrary to what you believe! You might have to make some modifications in order to best fit your body shape, but I wouldn't completely discard that fantasy (at least it's not one that requires thousands of bucks plus some A-list connections like my Oscar gown one ;-)) </p> <p>While I absolutely subscribe to the mantra of dressing for your body type, I think there is also a lot to be said for fashion as self-expression, and it's more often than not possible to combine the two with some creative adaptations. I like a few things that I also know aren't the very best choices for my body type (e.g. I know that boot cuts are generally better on me than skinnies) but if I'm careful I can pull off the second-best choices and do so if I really like them and feel good in them. I've found that the days where I feel most confident about my appearance are those where I let the most "Antje" shine through, not the ones where I stick most diligently to the "what flatters Antje the most" rules (though the best days are of course those where both come together perfectly.) If you love the sexy librarian look, I bet there are ways to make it happen to look good and most importantly, to feel good. I wear my belts very snugly--enough so that I *know* they're there, but not so tight that my bits squish out over them. Also, you might look for suede or fabric backed belts, as these have a tendency to "grab" on to whatever you're wearing and not shift as often. I really try to buy my belts so there won't be any excess, but sometimes you find a fab belt and it's a little big, but it's on sale or the last one or something. I use double sided sticky tape (depending on the material). I don't use anything like Scotch tape, I use these things called, "Matchsticks," which I buy in the lingerie department at Saks. That would probably be a more "permanent" solution, but would make it difficult to adjust your belt length, because the tabs might not line up.
