I'm mostly drawn to the beatnik retro / mod 60s, but do love the 20s due to the lovely hats. I get to dress up like this every year during the Tweed Bike ride our here in DC which is coming up.

I also adore the 20's so I really enjoyed your photos. In fact my hair cut is an updated version of Louise Brooks's bob. Did you see "The House of Eliott" series? The fashion show in blues? The dresses were spectacular!

I thought I'd just do my own thing - but I think I definitely have been influenced by the 1940's and the 1950's. My parents grew up during this era, so they think I dress very "old fashioned" - tee hee.

I do think my style is moving away from that again, though - I don't really like the HUGE flouncy skirts in the 1950's because I usually end up knocking things over (even though they look so very pretty). I like the less-fabric-taking-in-the-wartime look of the 1940's skirts more - they are still full but more practical.

I think I am also influenced by the styles of the strong women in the TV shows I am watching right now - Dr. Gillian Foster (Lie to Me) - I think I watch the show more for her outfits than the actual premise (which sort of died after Season 1) - 5/6

I love the 70s and the 40s (which I think echo each other). I also have a thing for Edwardian style. I do work quite a bit of 70s groovyness/boho into my style. I also sometimes get in Edwardian touches - for instance I have a couple velvet jackets, and a pair of awesome booties with Edwardian looking buttons. 40s style is harder as I don't have much reason in life to wear killer career fitted suits, more's the pity!

Currently: late 60s to early 70s. Not sure it will stay that way, but right now those looks resonate emotionally with me

Great question, Carla, and fab images, too!

I think my favourite era is probably early 60s mod. I also like the 40s. Someone introduced herself the other day saying Hepburn to Hepburn -- I like that!

I don't consciously try to incorporate elements from these eras into my wardrobe, but I think I do include them in subtle ways. Or not so subtle. Like my constant obsession with chelsea boots...a 60s mod staple.

I was just admiring this fabtastic set of photos which are a bit fantasy-like to me:

http://www.skarp.se/carl-bengtsson/fashion/21897

(click on photos to scroll through)

I like a lot of styles, but I think my era is a made-up one: medieval futuristic.

The YLF profile has a spot for favourite fashion era, and I get a kick out of learning the favourite eras that tickle Fabber's fancies...and if they are able to incorporate elements of that era into their look.

I haven't really been able to incorporate 20's style flapper dressing, though I once owned a silver grey dropped waist silk dress in my 20's that was, pretty fab. My fall back hairstyle is a chin length curly bob, and this weekend I got it cropped into that style again!

My hopes post 'Gatsby' movie was to see some of that influence on the runways, but no luck. I'll stick with sporty/classic for now.

What is your favourite era? Are you able to incorporate it into your everyday look?

(Below - inspirational fantasy fashion.)
