I was very fortunate that the lady from the shop where I found no.6 had offered me to try them on for the weekend. The reason I ask is because if you have a high prescription, the lens thickness and/or magnification fx of the lens might sway your choice....DH and i have been puzzling over this again this morning and while the cats eye is still my favourite, I would prefer to see more of your eyes. You are lucky in that you have a beautiful face and a lot of different shapes will suit you. Some frames even look very wonky when I put them on, so at least I've had comedy moments during my search.</p> <p>The last two were the only decent ones from the beginning of my search, with no.6 having advantage, but they are metal, uncomfortable and after very short time felt rather schoolgirly.</p> <p>From the last round, specs no.4 were my first choice of this lot, followed by no.2. I think you voted the same. Strangely, no.4 are the only non-black frames, something brownish, very undefined but I remember the color looked good and was not limiting in terms of matching my wardrobe. I actually don't remember them that well as I've taken that photo about a month ago, so this Saturday I'm on a mission and will revisit them. </p> <p>For everyone that has been lucky with their frames especially after a brief search - enjoy them!</p> <p>For other ladies that are going to embark on this journey - prepare yourselves. The ones without the little nosepieces (I don't know if that's what they're called) sit low on the bridge of your nose, which results in the frame cutting across your lovely eyes. Because you do have large and pretty eyes, I don't want to see that frame in the way! </p> <p>For that reason, I'm liking #4 and 6. </p> <p>I'm feeling better about the endless hours it took me to pick out new frames last year. Easier said than done, of course.</p> <p>So, I've searched in every single big chain store in my little city, made a few trips to the big ones, thoroughly checked independent stores' assortment, remembered that Costco does frames so tried a few there, all without a clear winner yet.</p> <p>In my last specs-stores crawl, I was armed with slightly better focus though (no pun intended), and here's my must-have, won't compromise on, wish list of what I want:</p> <ol> <li>Plastic frame. Metal ones are too uncomfortable, so this should make my search twice quicker or easier as I only have half the frames to check. HA. Ha. ha (the laughter fades). In reality, this makes me twice more desperate, as at times it feels like I have only half a choice. </li> <li>I don't want to walk around with a sculpture on my face. Yes, that's how I feel about most of modern designs - too prominent to actually look natural on the face. I don't mind dramatic (as Angie had nicely put it), actually I want exactly that, but for me the frame must blend in with the personality, not scream latest trend or brand name. </li> <li>While I'm at it, brand or logo on the temples must must must be tastefully done. This excludes quite a large selection. </li> <li>Main colour black, hint of white preferable. There, I said it, when I grow up I want to be just like Angie All black is quite difficult bar very few exceptions (but those usually fail on some another basis). My other argument is that only a very small number of non-black frames actually don't look blah with my complexion. Black(ish) ones are bolder, more defined and just look right, and if there's a hint of white it gives the necessary softness to the whole thing. Any other colour than white is also mostly difficult. </li> <li>No sharp lines or corners. One of the two frames from before is the latest Chanel that, as one shopkeeper tried to persuade me "all the models are wearing now". Yes, and? The weird thing is that I am offered that one in every shop and my hubby also likes it, but I don't - too angular and makes me look too matronly in my eyes. I don't want specs for board meetings or scaring unruly pupils in the school corridors! </li> <li>I'd love frames with a subtle retro feel to them. </li> </ol> <p>With all this in mind and putting down the mileage plus parking costs incurred so far, hopping on that plane to Seattle and enlisting Angie's help might not sound too extravagant at all!</p> <p>Where am I now? I've got a few I'd like your opinion on, hoping it'll bring me closer to the right one. How far from the finish line am I? Each one ticks most, but not all, of the boxes and I change my mind about them on a daily basis, clear sign it's time to ask for your input. I still don't dare to say there isn't a frame in England I haven't tried yet, but I'm running out of them. At. Rapid.
