Also, I've finally realized how much I have to evaluate and plan pants + footwear (since I am picky). I can not assume x shoes will go with y pants--the hem widths and vamps are all very tricky to combine, plus the heel heights. This now is part of my evaluation process for new pants or new shoes--who goes with whom? Do the pants fit in with existing shoes? Can the shoes be worn with existing pants? In looking for shoes or boots, what are the key pants-perfect elements? Seems so obvious, but took me awhile to get there.

Really busy day today but had to chime in about lengths.

YES. I like flares loooooooonnngggg.

These are a little short to my eye, always trying. No shorter than a quarter of an inch off the ground for flares. (I do wear mine longer than that). Or they need to be deliberately cropped shorter and worn with high vamped footwear.

Baby bootcuts are tricky though, especially with chunky shoes. The break line can look very off at whatever length. I vote go for a wider flare at the hem.

Una, most models wear their flares too short because they need a tall length. The sample that they are wearing for the fashion shoot is regular length - it's really hard to get the model the right sample size before production. Do not always go by how the model is wearing the garment. Hope that makes sense.

What Gaylene said!
I like my pants to be longer than what it appears in your photo but not floor-skimming. The key thing is the width of the flare, as Gaylene noted.
I don't wear very high heels at all but love a bootcut to allow the longer legline with a 1.5-2" chunky heel, as in an ankle boot. But, then the more subtle babybootcuts, which I like a lot, can be hard to hem long enough not to have a huge front break. So, some compromise and figuring out your own "poison eye" and sugar eye is needed.

I say keep them for the sneakers. I think they will work well with them. The Birks, also may work. It depends on your comfort level.

The length looks a bit too short to me, but pant length is one area I am fully in agreement with Angie! It's a shame because these otherwise look like a nice fit. I constantly have this problem when trying on jeans so I sympathize.

My two cents would be that the left and right pics are fine, but the middle picture looks awkward.

It's harder to judge the length of your jeans because of the angle and the position of your leg in the pictures. I suspect they might be fine worn with sneakers or a lower heel. To be perfectly honest, I think I'd go with my gut on this one--if the jeans feel too short when you are moving around wearing your preferred footwear, then they are probably too short. I once consigned a pair of pricey jeans because they were 1/2" too short--sounds crazy, but that 1/2 inch made a world of difference in how those jeans looked whenever I caught a glance of them in a mirror.

I bet they would look great with sneakers. I wouldn't be in such a hurry to dismiss the Birks either. 70's hippie is a cool look.

It is a tricky one....

My issue with ground skimming trousers is that the back heel section gets destroyed, ripped, and dirty.

I have just consigned my only pair of flared jeans, they were shorter than yours. I do have a pair of bootleg work trousers that are a similar length to yours. They are probably 3/4 inch too short for PPP but for my work and lifestyle being longer would be a challenge.

I would wear them at this length with these shoes or slightly lower heeled shoes.

I do love ground skimming flares, they are totally elongating! I hope to get a pair this year but I have not found the right ones yet.

I think Angie has a poisoned eye for flares that don't skim the ground. The baby boots that you are wearing are trickier in my opinion because they tend to bunch up at the top if the back gets too long, unless you hem them at an angle--but, if the angle gets too dramatic, that can also look odd.

My own preference is to keep my heel height under 2" for a babyboot and hem the pant so it is around 1/4"-1/2" from the floor, using a bit of diagonal to keep the pooling on the top to a minimum. My babyboots are a bit shorter than Angie's preference, but, since almost all of the heel is covered at the back and I'm not tripping on my pants, that is the length that works for me. A long leg line is nice, but so is not falling and breaking a hip at my age.

I think last year they were dragging the ground, but many do not want to wear them that way, so now the length is shorter. These jeans also worked as well with my sneakers and flat sandals. Tried them with my Berk a Likes and looked too much like old 70's hippie so will definitely not wear them that way.
