Wow, that will be a change of climate! We've got members here from all over so I'm sure you can get some great advice from everyone.

Re Nordstrom, you can order items to be delivered to the store, so if there are items you are interested in before you head to the U.S., you could order and then pick them up / try them on when you are able to go to SLC.

Thank you for all the information. I'm currently living in the Middle East- hot, bright, humid (in Aug-Oct) and moving to Poland- cold, wet, dark (Oct.-March). The contrast could not be greater. I'm a school administrator- in an American International School- which requires business casual here, but a slightly elevated level there. Having been here for 7 years, I need to purchase everything from basic clothes to socks. (Not to mention outerwear.) To make matters more complex, I return to rural Wyoming each summer to decompress. Great on the heart and mind, however there is very limited shopping. So- a trip to Salt Lake City (and the Nordstroms there) is my only option before heading to Poland July 20.
Thank you again for all the information. I'm learning so much here!

Fall Retail at Nordstrom starts in July with the NAS.

August is the WORST time to shop in the US (and Europe).

Sept and Oct are excellent - and by bar the best time to shop after the NAS.

Nov and Dec - pickings are slimmer as party wear and resort wear take up store space.

Sorry the curiosity, but what country area are you going to and from? [it's a meteorological curiosity, I don't meant to be nosy]

Thanks to the internet, there are still fall/winter items available from this past year, often on major discount. Especially if you have some time to search and find your size, you can get some good deals. What kind of work clothes do you need - business formal, business casual, casual? If you share more specifics of what you're looking for, we might be able to make some suggestions.

Also, sounds like you're moving back to the U.S. from overseas - can you have stuff shipped here yet, or do you need to wait until you move? You might want to look into signing up with a package forwarder temporarily. I know several of our Canadian members have done that at times.

You will do well to get on board for the Nordstrom's anniversary sale in July. That is when you can get pre-season deals on fall things. Angie has a number of posts devoted to it. You can look through the blog archives for previous years' posts.

Otherwise, fall merch. won't really hit the stores until beginning in August, I believe.

I'm very inspired by the posts rounding up Nordstrom finds. In August I will be moving from a hot climate to a very seasonal- and cold one. I need to spend some time this summer (when I have time and when I'm the US) getting work clothes for the move. How can I get information about when/where to begin shopping based on when the new lines will be out? Any ideas or help would be most welcome as I need everything.
