JenniNZ, that's amazing that so much of your wardrobe is now over 30 wears! What discipline that's taken! As you probably know, about 50% of my wardrobe has gotten to that point, but since it's constantly rotating, I don't know how much higher than that it will ever go. I guess it depends how well my more recent purchases hold up over time.

I really love the look of those orange-y booties. My inner debate, though, hinges on how well that color would really work with my winter wardrobe. I have terra cotta in my closet, but it's mostly summer-weight linen. That's why I collected the tan version as well. Maybe more practical.

shevia, yup. I literally made up those three style categories while typing that reply, but they ring true for me, and I'm suddenly really interested in exploring the overlap. A sporty puffer maybe doesn't fit into any all that well, but they're so darn convenient.

The colors and designs all look so you. You mean the combination of your three style directions I guess. And I also find a short puffer the most practical for our cool but not cold, often wet, winters.

Lovely colours for you. My faves are the more terracotta/cinnamon booties and the olive backpack.
I can’t think about spring/summer for us at all even though we count spring as starting 1 September here. I have put on a shortsleeved T-shirt for the first time in months today though with my lounge pants as although still winter it is warmer inside.
I still have so many clothes that I like and that are suitable for spring that I have no need to buy anything. Doing well on getting wears up- very few tops, pants or cardigans that don’t have 30 wears. Dresses are a different matter, nowhere much to wear them since we are back in a lockdown presently and I don’t like them at work.

suntiger, I honestly can't think of anywhere in the state that is never in danger of fires. There's even a fire burning in the Mojave right now.

Suz, you know, I haven't been wearing loungewear at all through this. Dressing for comfort...yes. I haven't touched a belt since March, and wear shoes so seldom that I'm surprised by new and exciting blisters every time I go for a city walk (even my exercise tends to come in the form of yoga or barefoot beach walks). Most of my regular clothes are suitable for hanging out at home, though, because that's where I spend most of my time, anyway.

Joy, J.Jill doesn't operate under the same ethical ideals as Eileen Fisher, so I'm comfortable spending a bit more for the real thing, knowing the company values. I've seen it NWT on eBay, though, so I might keep an eye out there.

Sal, those are definitely the same elements I was thinking of, along with softer, distressed finishes and Western details.

Jenn - yes I agree with you. Drape, natural fabrics and long lines do have a boho look and some of your patterns lean that way.

Jenn. JJill has or had a very similar dress for lots less I got one in black and in aqua blue. Unfortunately JJill runs big on me so not a good fit at even the smallest size...really loose, but it might work for you. I found an I expensive dry cleaners so usually dry clean my EF dress but my friend washes hers in the machine on cold and air dries it.. I hope to get the Feathers bra and the silver sneakers. Let us know what works for you. My favorite consignment shop just had a 30% off sale. I got a couple of EF things for fall...a citron green linen sweater and scarf and light grey silk pants plus a scarf that will help me wear red with chocolate brown and a couple of small bags in shades of brown. I think I will also try mixing black and brown when it gets colder. I think a puffer coat would. be ideal for your winters...light weight, warm but not overheating.. I remember wearing sweatshirts with shorts and sandals.

Jenn, these look like fantastic choices for you -- so cohesive and also practical—even the puffy! At least, *if you say so.* ;)

I haven't really started thinking about fall yet. At least not in terms of fashion. I did put in an NAS order but mostly gear and lounge. Then again, that is mostly what I wear these days and probably most days for the foreseeable future! So like yours, mine is practical.

There are a few items I would like if I could find them, foremost being a replacement for my J. Crew utility coat which I love, but which they haven't made in a similar style since...I'm still wearing it even though it looks quite worn out, and will just continue until I do find a replacement, I guess.

Meanwhile, a need is athletic runners (but I need to try these on, I think) and also waterproof boots for hiking in -- either rain boots or actual Goretex hiking boots, not sure which. Possibly both. I do some hikes through a floodplain in winter -- it is flat but very wet. And some on hills. I have great waterproof trail runners for those, though, so could probably wait -- the rainboots might be smartest for this year.

Sal, interesting that you don't see much boho in my style. I feel like I'm drawn pretty strongly toward boho, but at a more sophisticated level than summer festival fare. I do think you're right about bags and footwear being bridge pieces, especially when I spend a lot of time in black dresses and jeans with simple tops.

Joy, this would be my second copy of that dress. I wore through the first one. If I get another, I would be more careful about hand washing and air drying, because the spandex gave way earlier than I would have preferred for the price.

Bijou, you're my opposite in that sense...I like to fill out my spring wardrobe with fall colors because pastels aren't my friends. The past few years have had earth tones throughout every season, though. I'm sure that will shift soon enough.

rachylou, I LOVE that for you! I wonder if you could get enough warmth with underlayers.

Minaminu, it's not really a color departure when you look at my wardrobe as a whole. I have mostly black essentials, with statement items mostly in rust, cognac, maroon, and amber. Leaning into the earth tones this season because my core is largely in place and holding up well.

UmmLila, I really like the cardigan too. Not 100% sure on the color, but I might order it just to see how it works with what I have.

Nadya, I was drawn to those culottes because they look like the bottom half of my favorite jumpsuit. Quite different!

Aquamarine, we took our first little foray into outdoor dining a week or so ago. Still have to pick and choose (not all patios are created equal) and it's not going to be a regular thing, but what a treat! We definitely appreciated it more than we would have a year ago!

nemosmom, today is officially one year in California! It...uh...definitely wasn't the year I expected. :)

kkards, I like that a lot! I tried on a jumpsuit from Athleta (not that one, but similar) last summer. The fit was just comically bad...one of those situations where you can tell that neither sizing up nor sizing down would make a bit of difference, because the fit model clearly came from another species. Alas.

Angie, I bet you wouldn't be surprised to learn that I find just the opposite soothing...my color palette is kind of like nighttime in Utah.

A lightweight puffer is actually great for California winters--more convenient for rain than a sweater. Difference in Colorado was that I'd wear a puffer with a scarf and gloves, over wool underlayers. Here, as rachylou pointed out a while back, it's more "wear your thin summer stuff, but throw a puffy over it when you go outside."

All looking very cohesively and thoughtfully Jenn! Good for your climate and lifestyle. Great palette!

I chuckled a little at your need for replacing your puffer in LA...... that was unexpected :)

To answer your question: I'm wearing more colour than ever and LOVING it. It's soothing and energizing to me, and especially so in a pandemic. I think all my colours go together, so it's practical and easy!

I'm slowly but surely building my turquoise and blush capsules to wear with red, orange, citron, navy, pink and white. I've got some of these items already.

Jenn, I love that EF dress and have a similar one in probably the same fabric. It can be dressed up or down and worn all year, especially in your climate. A friend is on her third or fourth dress like this and works in a law office. She says she wears the dress three times a week. It is easy to change the look with toppers and accessories. The neckline is perfect...not too open, not too high.

Jenn, I think that gilet could work well in the autumn and then as a layer underneath the black coat in the winter. In terms of usage, it could last me longer than a light puffer jacket - still debating which option woukd work best!

I noticed that your fall selection has a slightly different colour palette than the summer pieces, do you have different colour palettes for each season?

Delicious is the perfect word for your collection here.

I’ve been thinking a bit about it. I don’t need anything at all (except a replacement extra long puffy, altho I can last another season with my old tired one - it’s a HEWI this long puff). I don’t want anything where I don’t have anywhere to wear it. So... What I really want to do is upgrade my long sweater/leggings loungewear game. I’m inspired by this Missoni look. The tricky thing is the sweater. I’ve been wearing TWO sweaters to stay warm... I don’t know that I can get this kind of look with a warm enough sweater.

Jenn, this is a great strategy given your warmer climate. I find that for me, Northern hemisphere Fall and Spring collections are good for my winter. As I love Spring colours, I tend to make the most of Spring collections to update my winter wardrobe.

You have picked some fabulous items, the cinnamon puffer is gorgeous and likely to be a workhorse. I really love the boots you have picked too, they look comfy and stylish.

I love your fall choices. I am thinking of fall but find I will probably wear a lot of those same colors with greys as my neutral. I had designated chocolate brown as my fall dark neutral and a light tan for the light neutral, but have very little brown in my wardrobe. I can substitute the neutrals I do have or shop for browns. I know what you mean about missing going out. A get together for wine or a beer on Zoom is not the same as going to a meet up at a brew pub or winery. Our monthly neighborhood cocktail parties have stopped.

I can see you in all those pieces so I hope some eventuate. Love that backpack ( auto correct wants me to write alpaca) and the puffer Is a great shade.

I do think right now trends are very dispersed, stores are in a tricky position of selling pieces ordered and designed pre Covid. So it can be hard to get a handle on what you do want.

I think footwear and bags could adapt your style between the three directions that you like. I don’t see your style as boho often but there are influences.

Barbara Diane, I bet it's a bit harder to find autumn-weight items in the jewel tones! I never used to think I had a lot of places to dress for, but I'm realizing now how much I enjoyed choosing what to wear for things as simple as hanging out in a coffee shop, eating in a restaurant, or strolling through a museum. Date nights aren't quite the same when they involve taking our drinks up to the roof rather than walking to a local bar, either.

nemosmom, I think I'm still adapting my wardrobe for the new climate. Winter here is basically a six-month-long autumn (except without the pretty leaves or the nip in the air). Autumn was short in Colorado, with hot weather stretching into September and the first snow usually coming in late October, so I'm not really equipped for that much "in-between" weather!

runcarla, I'm sure there are trends, but I'm having a hard time seeing them! I'm honestly struggling a bit even with a cohesive vision of my own style. I'm finding myself swaying between soft bohemian (crochet, embroidery, earthtones) urban edge (black and olive, utilitarian), and minimal luxe (neutral. clean lines, silk, delicate jewelry).I'm hoping some of the above items blur those lines a little.

Yup! Been thinking about F/W and trying to get a feel for what’s out there, and if there are any trends. You’ve done a great job at sourcing out some pieces that are SIMPAT. (I SO so like Angie’s acronym!)

Your collection is fantastic, Jenn! It is obvious you have given every potential addition careful consideration. I replaced a handful of thicker sweaters at the end of winter (so, April-May) and feel well-stocked for the coming months. The zip hoodie that I practically lived in this past spring is on it's last leg (I think it's about 4 years old), and i replaced it with a longer knit cardigan to 'dress up' my day-to-day look LOL

I love that you are looking for things, and that your picks make a great capsule.

I haven't been anywhere except to have items put into my trunk, so right now I plan to mostly stay with what I have. I would love to add something fun. I may need to replace a few items, however.

Your explanation of garment weight and colors was an aha for me. I prefer the lighter weight fall clothing with jewel tone colors. Thanks!

Minaminu, would sleeveless be wind-blocking enough for you?

JAileen, I really like being outside in the mornings, too. The last week or so, it hasn't fallen below the mid-70s overnight, which is just crazy to me. Feels more like summers in humid places, but of course, it's not humid at all. It's just hot.

The Cat, I was once typed as an autumn, but I think my coloring actually swings more toward neutral.

I like your selection! I started thinking on the upcoming fall as well! In my list, I am missing a windproof jacket of some sort and a winter dress (or coordinated set).

This jacket is a possible contender....

Lol! You're a heat baptized Californian now. AQ is horrific around here. It looks like armageddon. I've never seen it so smoggy and smell so smoky. Fires are on all sides--the coast, the eastern mountains and north and south. Those fire fighters have their work cut out for them for sure. My boss and some of my coworkers are already evacuated--pretty soon all of us are going to be camping at the office.
