I've been wearing pants with spandex so long that I never noticed them being hotter but I do switch to lighter weight denim when it gets really hot and I cant wear lounge shorts. I've had to switch between sweaters and tanks every few days. I wish mother nature would make up her mind.

They can be tough to find, but 100% cotton is out there. Have you tried looking in stores like REI or Dicks? I haven't been looking there, but I feel like they's have clothes more geared towards wicking and staying cool.

Yes, spandex is very warm! I had a silk blouse that was 7% spandex, and I swear it was all on the inside of the fabric, because I could really feel it heating up, and the tailored fit didn't help either. It has gone on to a new home, but other flowy, 100% silk blouses work just fine in the heat.

Good luck finding all natural fibers. The thrift store usually is a good place for things you can't find in retail, if you're into that sort of thing.

We are also having sunny humid 80's yet and I keep having to drag the summer things back out. I don't know about the small % of stretch added to fabrics making them warmer. I find cotton warm even without it because it doesn't dry out quickly. Maybe the new wicking fabrics are the answer. I also like rayon and silk.

It's really frustrating when the weather won't change but your mood has!

Here, my problem is very long winters. I've learned that I need to have a few winter weight but spring colour items in my wardrobe. They aren't always easy to find, but they really help me over that transitional hump when everybody else is happily starting to wear spring things and I still need quite a lot of bulk or layers for warmth.

What kg said. Looser fit & cotton & linen are best for the heat imo.

I find my 100% cotton jeans the most comfortable for summer but I'm not sure if it's the fabrication or the fit. My cotton jeans are BF style and are quite loose--I'm sure that makes a difference too. Linen is option or perhaps cotton skirts or looser fit khakis.

My problem currently is that is we are still having some days getting into the 80's and I am wanting to stop wearing summer stuff, but the &%# 2 percent spandex in so many things makes them feel like one is wrapped in seran wrap. You would think only 2% would not make a difference, but it does. Sorted thru my jeans, pants, capris, etc. and only have 4 pairs of assorted ones that are 100% cotton. I have quite a few 100% cotton t's, but it is the bottoms that are lacking. I am convinced that this spandex addition to clothing is here to stay though. What is one gonna do when the 100% cottons wear out?
