Vicki, in #15 that is a black pleather moto jacket, seen better here:

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....th-a-dress

... I bought that one at F21, a few years back, after getting frustrated trying to find the perfect one in real leather. If I could duplicate this in real leather I'd be ecstatic!!! It fits perfectly and I've gotten so much mileage out of it. It's super lightweight and has 3/4 sleeves so it works well as a layer in the winter (instead of cardigan) underneath my wool coat.

I'm glad you like it with the red purse and leopard booties. I don't think I'd have considered this combo in a million years, but since I had everything out on my bed, I got inspired to throw it together. I've worn that dress a lot, but always with nude, cream, black accessories. This seems more fun.

Chiffon blouse: Banana Republic, this past Spring.

Navy blue blouse: Ann Taylor. A few years back.... huh, come to think of it, that one is at least 4 years old too! I do like collars -- I just don't like crisp cotton ones. Silk collared blouses like me much better. That top may not work tucked into a skirt, as it's banded. I think it may look cute untucked, with the "Angie" skirt (which is Tina Turk). I will have to experiment with that one. I wear that blouse a lot under my black velvet jacket, with collar popped, strand of white pearls, and cream clutch. It's also shown here with hot pink skirt --
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....pink-skirt

Shiny, I am so impressed by your pre-planning and really inspired by this "bed-photoshoot" idea.

I find it so tiring to try on different outfits and photograph them, but a quick bed photoshoot is a great way to get a headstart on putting together and pruning outfits. I think I'm going to do something similar.

shiny, I wanted to post yesterday and am just getting around to it today. You have such amazing style and I really have no suggestions other than to say that YOU have inspired me. Is that a jacket or coat in #15 with the bright color-block dress? It looks short in the front, but long on the side? I really like the animal print boots and red bag with this outfit. Also, your blue boots really get some good mileage with so many of your outfits.

Where did you buy your lovely chiffon blouse and your blue silk one? These are so nice and the latter one works fabulously well under your Theory shift. Nicely done, shiny, and your wardrobe work is done IMHO. Enjoy it.

Wow, how time flies... can't believe it's been 4 years! I haven't worn this skirt nearly enough, though I do love it. I am definitely not tired of it yet. I just don't wear skirts all that often, but I am bent on changing that, this Fall... I am committed to wearing all of these outfits before it gets too cold....

I even have this wild idea I should clean my closet out entirely and leave only these 25 pieces, plus scarves, just to see if I could be that disciplined...

GORGEOUS capsules!!! I can't wait to see these outfits on, Jennifer. Love how your new booties made your existing outfits look more on trend and modern.

We got that skirt 4 years ago. I passed mine on last week actually. I had to make room for a pair of new trousers.

Suz and Claire, even if the outfits don't work when I try them on, I love this approach for the brainstorming alone. I often think of possible outfits, but then forget them when I'm getting dressed, I wind up standing in front of my closet, stumped, so I reach for a previous tried-and-true....

This was also a good exercise because I realized I'm pretty much "done" for Fall shopping. Maybe one season-spanning item (lime accessory? snake skin purse???) and that's it. Which was a good & timely thing because it's Fashion Week here in Boston and temptations abound....

Laura, I was on the way out for the evening (art reception and dinner out) and dressed in that outfit when I saw your reply. It's hot & muggy here so I was dubious about the booties anyway. So, I swapped out into blue-toned snake skin strappy heels (more appropriate to the heat) and the cobalt bag. I'd NEVER have thought to combine those with this dress!!! But, I think it worked.... will post pics tomorrow in separate WiW, with more commentary.

These are all lovely outfits. And I love that we get to see the blue of those booties more accurately in some of these shots. They really do play amazingly with your (gorgeous) wardrobe.

I am admiring all your lovely bags and the textures. I don't really have any suggestions for any of these except to try them on. Like Claire, my "bed" outfits don't always work as well in the proportion when I actually try on.

I think Zapotee was the first one (recently) to do some bed WIW's. I thought it was a great idea too, although it has its limitations. Often outfits that look great on my bed don't exactly work together IRL, so I have to at least try on the night before. Of course the better you *know* your wardrobe, the less likely you are to encounter glitches.

You are way ahead of me style wise Shiny. These are remarkable outfits and you have such lovely pieces. Since Lisa mentioned it, a striped item might be nice, but I'd be hard pressed to suggest anything else. I'm just taking notes!

I remember your "Angie" skirt! It was maybe 2 or 3 NASes ago?

I would add another pair of booties and another handbag. How about a wedge bootie with a rounder toe?

Love that you got that NAS scarf. That's another area where I would consider adding.

Not sure I love the purple and grey and black Suzi Chin dress from NAS with the leopard booties. You might rethink or try it on. I think a cool snakeskin would look better than a warm leopard print.

Maria, I was thinking I need some pattern thrown in there too! I remembered I have this blue-based, funky, arty, fish-skinned clutch I got in Iceland.

Thanks Lisa! The skirt is definitely beige, the stitching is rose-pink and burgundy. I moved away from browns and beiges years back; it seemed easier to build a cohesive wardrobe around grays and black instead. But you can see I saved a few items.

Back then, I felt like I had two entirely different wardrobes, one with cool colors and one with warm. (I also *vastly* prefer silver jewelry rather than gold... I wear gold since it's on trend, but it's not my preference. I decided I look better in cool tones with a blue base. So, no orange or mustard for me, at least not near my face. But I could totally do that in a belt, shoe or purse....

Dusty lime sounds intriguing.........

Wow, I love your pieces and how you mixed and matched them all so nicely. My favorite combination is #11. On my computer the skirt looks a nice celery green, but you say it's beige. With your other colors leaning towards the blues and teals, maybe adding this dusty lime would work. And another color that might add to the fall mood might be cinnamon brown. Perhaps easier said than found in the real world, but a cinnamon brown jacket could be combined with the leather skirt and burgundy cowl neck, or over the gray dress with some antique brass finish pendant.

What kind of accessories do you like best? Would you be comfortable adding a burgundy, gray and mustard scarf? Or maybe a dark orange shoe? Just brainstorming here.

Great wardrobe here. I noticed lots of fun prints but no stripes, if you like stripes I'd add a striped top for remixing. I find my stripes remix well. Also I don't see many bright colors here, if you like color I'd add a fun color in a top perhaps? The color would work well with your neutrals here.

Here are 14 outfit possibilities for Fall for your review, critique, and suggestions. Where are the holes? What items might I want to look for, to make some of these items work better? Belts? Booties in a third color? Handbag? Feedback and ideas please!

And whomever started this whole idea of planning on the bed and snapping a photo is a GENIUS. Why didn't I think of that???

Please excuse the rumples on some of these items; I pulled them from storage and need to clean/press. And apologies because you can't really see the white blouse or white pleather jacket that well against white bed sheet. Also note that I did not play too much with scarves, or with jewelry. I will take suggestions there if you have them.

Pics 1-3: Three different ways to wear what I call my "Angie" skirt. What year did we get this at NAS, Angie? Pic one is hard to see, but it's a navy blue silk collared blouse, with black moto jacket over it. Note that pic 2 features white billowy chiffon long sleeve blouse, which is absolutely perfect for tucking into high waisted skirts.

Pics 4-5: Dress I got at AT last year. I wore this constantly last season. These are new ways to wear it, with new items (blue booties, KS bag, NAS scarf). I've got more. And it's a given the red bag will go with this, worn with black tall boots. (I was trying to focus not on tall boots for this "early Fall" exercise.)

pics 7-9: ways to wear the leather skirt. pic 8 features the chiffon l/s blouse again. It also features an ancient, pre-YLF statement piece that I have not worn in eons, but it passed YLF test long ago, so I've held on to it. And now gold is back, and to my eye it looks on trend? But not sure what shoes to wear with this.

pics 10-12: feature another ancient item from my closet, an AT skirt I have held on to because it fits and doesn't pinch me in the waist. I haven't worn it in years, because beige has been out of fashion. But beige isn't out of fashion now! So it's being resurrected. Pic 12 is shown with the cowl neck burgundy top that I purchased at the same time as the skirt. Burgundy is back in style -- woo hoo! And pic 10 is shown with the most ancient item of all: I used to wear this brown silk blouse way back in... drum roll please.... 1997!! Have I updated these items or do they look dated?

pic 13: New NAS Suzy Chin color block dress. I know it works with tall black boots. How does it work with the leopard booties?

pic 14: gray theory shift with navy blue l/s blouse. And blue booties. Too blue?

pic 15: Neon color block sheath. Does this work to translate this spring dress to fall, or have I totally lost my marbles? Open to suggestions here. The sheath is that neon citron on the front, with beige on the sleeves, and black on the back. It is sleeveless, but substantial weight and fully lined, so would be warm for Fall, if I can make it work. In the chilly Spring I wore it with black tall boots and denim jacket, with black purse.

I am curious how many pieces:

Tops:
1) navy blue l/s silk
2) white chiffon l/s (purchased spring '12)
3) denim l/s
