I don't think I'll be able to make any decisions due to lack of wear this summer because of the odd weather. Last summer and possibly the next ten summers can call for different clothing. My editing will be based more on what I no longer love, even if it still fits. The hardest type of item is button downs. I used to wear them all the time and still like them, but they are not getting worn much.

Last summer was SO hot here; I assumed this year would be the same and planned my capsules accordingly. Well, it's ended up being exceptionally cool. My capsules have actually worked out well except I realized a few days ago that I didn't have any summer-weight cardigans. Yesterday I added a cropped cardi in radiant orchid; I'm thinking about getting a couple more (not cropped) in navy and soft grey.

I'm getting lots of wear from everything I bought for summer and hope to continue wearing most of my summer items well into September.

I don't consider them fails because I still quite like them but I think I added more casual tops than I needed because several haven't gotten much wear. But our hot weather usual lasts through September or later so there is still hope!

I was extremely frustrated that I've been having issues with adult acne on my back and shoulders as it heated up (more likely due to stress and hormones than the heat, but still!) which means that many of my summer tops with wider necklines have gone unused (I have 4 of these). That left me high and dry without things to wear and I ended up purchasing 5 crew-neck tees that I'm not entirely happy with (although I spent less on them that most tops cost -- less than $40 with tax) because my go-to tees were sold out.

I've worn my new flips, my new shorts, both new jackets, and the new skirt quite a bit, but never found appropriate shoes to wear the new bottoms to work. However, with less than a month of hot weather left I've given up on the sandal hunt.

I've switched the focus to starting to save for and think about fall and winter unless I find a good deal on sandals. I would like to invest in 1-3 new bottoms, a blouse or two, several sweaters, and 1-2 pair boots, plus accessories.

It's just starting to heat up over hear, so my summer season is swinging into high gear! It's always good to evaluate though!

I'm wearing dresses more than separates, although I love the look of separates.

In the spring I bought a few things I thought would be more on trend, than they turner out to be. No real problem as I do not asp ire to be so trendy, but some items like white loafers, I could do well without.
As four fall will be slower, and more analytical, in purchases.

I bought several pairs of cotton shorts this year that haven't seen much wear. I think this is because in the evenings when I am a soccer mom, I've been going for a run rather than dressing casually to watch. Or I've been staying home in loose baggy gear shorts cuz it's been humid, and I've been running around geting hot. I truly went into the summer expecting to wear work clothes during the day and casual clothes in the evenings.

I've also found I've been wearing skirts and dresses more than I remember doing in the past, so linen pants and capris aren't seeing as much wear for work as they could have.

I think so much depends on what the weather gods send us!

I replaced more tees than I've needed so far, and I didn't buy enough Summer work blouses. I think those two are totally connected. Work usually dies for me mid June and doesn't pick back up until mid-late August. This year, it's just starting to quiet down, so I've had many more work days than usual and many fewer casual days this Summer.

Well as my summer season is July-mid Sept, it's a bit early for me but there are few things I've noted: 1) I had a couple tops that I thought would be breezier turn out warmer than expected, so those will shift over a season. 2) I didn't add any long shorts, which I was supposed to do, so that remains a big hole. 3) The active-casual items I've added for romping around on the weekend have been a great addition!

Actually two of my semi-fails are dressy jackets that it's too warm for most of the time. (A mint green and a blue/white stripe.) We had very little really spring .... went pretty much from winter to ordinary summer. It's not been super hot, just not jacket weather, but perhaps I can squeeze in some use.

Have you had typical weather this summer? For us it's been so much cooler and rainier than usual, that many things I thought would be workhorses - like my linen tanks, Ts, and crops - haven't gotten much wear at all. It's difficult for me to assess at this point, especially given that we we should have at least 2.5 more months of hot hot weather (like 100F), but it's 70F and raining today, so who knows?

Well, with all this looking forward to fall (if only in wardrobe terms) I've been thinking about how my spring and summer picks worked out for me.

I still like everything I bought, from an aesthetic point of view, but there are a few pieces that have only gotten minimal wear. And with about 6-7 weeks of summer left, I'm not sure I'll use them as much as I hoped.

Have you identified any fails yet for this current season? Or is it too early to be sure?
