Very nice. A boyfriend blazer in navy would look killer with this dress too.

Wow, I really like this. Pattern mixing is so hard, but you hit the nail on the head, in my opinion/

I think I would prefer it with a denim jacket - I think it needs that anchor to bring it all together. The dress is gorgeous on you!

Nice outfit as in, great pattern mix here, definitely not pattern mixing 101 anymore you have graduated. I like the suggestions of a vest or jacket too though.

I really like it, although it's not a look I'm brave enough to pull off myself. I love the idea of a denim vest or jacket with it...or even a cardi in a solid color. I do like it *as is* though.

Thanks for the comments, everyone!

Yep, I have a denim vest that I've worn over it (though never with the scarf--the scarf is new, so I wanted to try it out with the dress). Maybe I should have thrown that into the mix for the pic...Always new style horizons to move toward :).

Re. Kasmira: Her pattern mixing is off the hook! Talk about having fun with fashion.

I second Kellygirl's suggestion of a denim vest. I adore pattern mixing, and I really like what you have done here. But I read a lot of style blogs like Kasmira and others, and it always seems to me that boldest pattern-mixing works best when you have a solid color somewhere anchoring the outfit and letting your eye have fun skipping over it to the next pattern.

I love it, Jonesy! I would not have thought to put the two patterns together but it looks great. Have you tried it with a cropped denim vest? I wonder if that would help rein it in since you said a belt looks weird. Honestly though, it looks great as is.

Jonsey, while I personally probably wouldn't wear this combination of patterns I LOVE that you are trying it! Bravery in fashion is so exciting and inspirational. I agree with Queenie that something to pull the blue out or maybe a tweedy/herringboney pattern would be interesting. Also, I think that dress is amazing! Love the pattern & colors.

Renata, those clogs are amazing! Is that a patchwork of suede and leather, all done in russet hues?! Too fab.

Queenie, I see what you mean about the blue. I do typically wear a (blue) denim jacket with this, which also helps to break up the pattern and deal with the undefined waist issue. Maybe some blue socks peeking out of the ankle boots :)? (just kidding)

I like pattern mixing, and I love the idea you're going for here, but for some reason I can't give this particular combo a 10.
I think I'm wanting to see something that would pull out the blue in the dress.

Hi Jonesy,

I quite like it! I am a huge fan of pattern mixing myself :-)
I think the colours in the scarf tie in well with the dress and the boots "bookend" with the darker tones in the scarf.

Nice job!

I rather like this combo, but I was curious about what the YLFers would think! Note: This dress has an empire waist, so belting it looks weird. OTOH, when you look at it, it sort of cries out for some waist definition. So, I usually solve this dilemma by wearing something over the dress (e.g., a denim jacket), but for this pic, I wanted to show just the dress/scarf combo to see what people thought about the pattern mixing.

Dress: Anthropologie
Leopard-patterned scarf: Ann Taylor
Wedge ankle boots: Naot
