Newish black pants which I had hemmed up myself are at the tailor being done properly to sit better, and I wanted black, so finished up wearing the 2016 leather patch leggings which had officially been relegated to “old clothes” because the patches are all faded. And the wearing out flat black booties with the fringe, for um, 107th wear. They probably need to go next winter. But they were black too and had a fringe to match the tunic...<br /> I’ll see how I go doing this for this working week. If I'm not paying close attention, I forget to take advantage of the unique opportunities that my fairly short fall season offers.</p> <p>1 wearing blazers as outerwear. Since my third piece indoors is a white coat, this is my best way to use my beloved and much larger than necessary blazer collection (which just grew this month...). I did this challenge 2 years ago but it bears repeating.</p> <p>2 subset of the above, making a "pantsuit" out of blazer and pants that almost match. I did this last year, but with mismatched plaids still being a thing, I will try my not-the-same Black Watch blazer and pants too.</p> <p>3 wearing all of my temperature appropriate navy items before winter gets here and it feels wrong. </p> <p>4 making the most of bare leg weather while I can. This means choosing midi skirts, culottes, and even layering some dresses, because I despise pantyhose.</p> <p>5 enjoying my oxfords, loafers and other closed shoes. This is their season to shine. I will postpone the booties as long as I can, because winter is too long, and spring too slushy and muddy.</p> <p>6 plaid, tartan and checks. At least once a week. A while back I started a <a rel="nofollow" href="https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/what-is-your-outfit-making-process">thread about outfit creation</a> and this led to the idea of a style prompt or persona related challenge that a number of people seemed to be interested in.</p> <p>I have put together a list of style prompts related to <a rel="nofollow" href="https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/a-style-statement">my own style persona</a>&nbsp;and the direction that I want to go for fall (which is basically to lean into the “girl on the moors” part of my moniker).</p> <p>The idea here is to <b>(1) provide a starting point for outfit creation</b> when I’m staring slack-jawed at my closet in the morning, and <b>(2) translate a big-picture understanding of where I want my style to be/go to the smaller scale of what I wear day by day</b>.</p> <p>The impetus for the challenge was #1 above but on further reflection #2 has actually been a huge sticking point for me. I’m really optimistic and excited about the potential for this challenge to help me translate my Endless Analysis into Actually Wearing The Clothes. Fingers crossed…</p> <p>I hope others are still interested in joining me, either now or starting in a few weeks!</p> <p>Some of the prompts below are quite general but others are more specific to my style.
