Fabulous looks. Really like the white socks with shoes as a trendy look that looks like you have been there waiting for the world to catch up.

I really like the first look with the subtle pattern mixing going on! Maybe a slightly pointy-toed oxford would be just the ticket for an alternative to a more traditional oxford or a ballet flat?

Lovely example of how to wear a vest! I quite like it with the ballet flats but could also see it with heavier footwear, I think SarahD8 is onto something with her thoughts on that. And I agree a tweed jacket would be fab with the last outfit.

Fab scarf collection! They relate well to each other.

Excellent tonal pattern mixing in #1! Complements the colour of your hair. That's my fave, and I like the ballet flats with the look! Fresh vibe :)

Fantastic pattern mixing, and I love love love the menswear look on you. Your long silver hair is the perfect contrast. Do you ever wear silver boots?

I used to have a similar box pleated skirt from Talbots in a heavy linen, and eventually trying to wrangle the pleats wore me out and I gave it away.

You wear monochromatic tones so well, I love #1 and 2 on you, a great juxtaposition with your hair. A tweed blazer would be a fabulous wardrobe addition.

What a strong and interesting point of view you have! I like all of it and would be examining you closely, over my book, in the coffee shop.
Had a shopping trip this week to a Mens Wearhouse (classy name, eh?) with Mr Green and we ordered him a custom pair of dressy pants that I actually rather fancied for me (and a sports coat) and I gotta say, you have this menswear thing down. Taking notes, really. These outfits actually look comfortable.
Your hair and smile are beautiful.

Oooh I really like all of this, both your inspiration/thought process behind the outfits, and the execution.

That first outfit is especially ringing my bells. Interestingly, I really like it with the ballet flats in #2, but not as much in #1. Maybe the blazer version needs heftier footwear to balance the outfit, but with the shirt sleeves the ballet flats are just the perfect juxtaposition...?

Your scarf collection is TDF!
#1 is just so fab.. the pinstripes, the vest, the shoes, so current and modern. And I love how you’ve done the socks with the shoes in #3, I find it fresh. I like the skirt in the final look but I’m wondering if you could try a top or shoes/boots with higher contrast, maybe because the other 2 outfits have higher contrast .

Good day all. The weather has finally turned chilly enough for layers. I was inspired by MaryBeth and Carla.

1. Slouchy high-waisted pants (Uniqlo last year) with grey & white striped shirt and short sweater vest. Worn with black blazer and Clarks ballet flats. Hair in a half-up to add feminine contrast.

I'm not sure about the footwear choice here. I wanted ballet flats to offset the masculine vibe of the outfit, but meh with the trouser length, almost wants an oxford to break onto?

2. Grey pinstripe skirt worn backwards so the slit is at the front. (This is apparently a microtrend. I have at least 3 long straight skirts with back slits, that I haven't worn in years because they are so long, so I am milking it.) White shirt, plain black sweater vest, long thin scarf tied in a half Windsor for interest.

These oxfords (Bata) have lovely brogue detailing. I wanted to add socks for warmth and comfort, so I turned down these white ankle socks to make cuffs. Someone (Helena?) found that look unimaginative because it was everywhere, but I've only seen it on a few university students in our tiny town; just enough to embolden me.

Hair in a single plait to soften the look.

Not shown, but short black trench overtop.

3. Yesterday was rainy enough to want a skirt and boots. I love this box pleated skirt (Talbots) but warm beige doesn't love me so it requires careful handling. This light v neck sweater was not too warm (first sweater wear of the season).

For contrast and cooler colour I wanted this equestrian scarf with navy border (silk, bought in Rome 30 years ago). To find it, I had to rummage through 5 other equestrian scarves. Do I have a problem?

My plan was to wear knee high riding style boots, black with brown trim. But I couldn't find them anywhere, and I was running out of time, so I grabbed these desert boots. That moved it from Ralph Lauren territory towards Indiana Jones. Maybe a bit confused with the preppy top half?

Hair in a low pony with navy velvet scrunchie for preppy energy.

Wouldn't a tweed blazer go great with this? Maybe an item for a HEWI list. Because of the rain, I used my big Columbo style trench coat.

So that was my week. What could I improve on? My closet is replete with classic items as you can see. But I wouldn't mind adding a few completer pieces that I could watch for in thrift shops.
