Thanks suz, it sounds like our feet are similar. I'll let you know how it goes, and keep an eye out for any shoe postings you might do. I'm thinking hi vamp pointy loafers for my straight leg pants silhouettes and booties for skinny jeans. Somewhat interchangeable of course. Grrr indeed!

Love your attitude, Chris and TOTALLY COMMISERATE with your woes. This is the story of my life. I cannot wear flats that don't have straps or laces. I did find ONE slip on sneaker that worked in a size smaller than my regular size. It was a miracle. I did have to break it in and got blisters my first two wears but then it was okay. Alas, it is no more.

I went to a local shop that sells Vionics because I had never tried them on. They didn't have that specific shoe, alas. But I got a very strong impression they would not work for me because the arch support was not in the right place for me. So the last is wrong. I am disappointed because I could really have benefitted from a shoe like that for the plantar fasciitis.

I also tried the FitFlop closed shoes because the sandals were so great for me this summer. No luck. One size is too small and in the next size my heels are flipping out. Grrrr. Back to the drawing board.

I finally got to the wear-around-the-house-for-a-while stage on the Vionics flats and am very disappointed that they do not work. The fit is almost perfect, but even with a couple of different small inserts the heels slip too much. This is a recipe for blisters and calf muscle stress which happens when my feet have to work too hard to keep shoes on. I know what a good heel fit feels like and these do not measure up.

I guess my low volume feet really do not work for flats at all. All the praises I gave these shoes are still valid; if you are interested do give them a try.

I am also annyoyed with myself for taking so long to figure this out, since I stopped my shoe shopping in the meantime. Next time I get new shoes I'm going to do this part of the try-on more quickly.

All is not lost! I got these at Nordstrom so easy peasy returns. and I've learned that sliver snakeskin and leopard print shoes will make great additions to my wardrobe. So, off to start shopping again. My so-called 30-day shopping hiatus will have to be "modified"

Thanks Angie, you are so kind as always. I may actually start wearing scarves right around now at least early and late in the day. Hmm...I don't remember every being told I look "cuddly"...LOVE IT!

Thanks Cerinda & Rachylou

RobinF, thanks, I'm a bit late to the leopard shoe party but am loving them enough to consider looking for additional tops to go with them. I'm thinking light blue, toffee, mustard yellow (I can wear it), black....

Thanks Bonnie, I typically don't like pink, but the top and sweater here are more of a blush color and not too bright so I really do like it.

Suz these Vionics feel so different from any I've flats ever tried on, and DO stay on my feet at least around the house so far. Most flats do not stay on my feet either. I know what you mean about a short season for wearing them...in fall until it gets too cold and then in spring again. To me these are "classic" enough to last for several years. Thanks for the pink/purple comment...I like pink as long as the pink is more of a blush and not a major player in my wardrobe. Purple has always been a favorite of mine, in all levels of saturation.

Thanks Jaileen...that floral cardigan (which I love too) has been a wardrobe orphan for quite a few years so I was happy to find a way to get it back into rotation. It's a super thin merino so a transitional item, no good in serious winter.

Style Fan thanks and yes I feel like it took me too long to realize what a great neutral the leopard print is!

Great shoe collection. I am so tempted by the Vionic flats but I also can not keep ballet flats on my feet. I also find Franco Sarto comfortable.
Great fall outfits. I find the leopard such a great neutral.

Great shoes and great outfits, too. I'm very tempted by those Vionics even though I can never keep flats on my feet and the season for wearing them is so short.

(By the way, I'm in the market for a similar type of shoe to the one you describe for indoors...I did get the sparkly sock booties and I suppose I will replace my worn out slippers -- but I find, working from home, I really like something a bit more fashionable than a slipper to make me feel "dressed" yet also easy on/ easy off. The quest continues.)

I absolutely love the grey patent Eccos and I might just have to get a pair.

#6 is super flattering on you altogether -- great outfit! I really like your cuddly outfits 2 and 3 as well, and you look lovely in pink and purple.

Shoes were my #1 wardrobe priority for fall/winter. I want to wear flat shoes most of the time and had very few. I do have ankle boots with slightly higher heels and also some pumps so I decided to focus on the flats first. I also had a goal of getting some in colors other than black. Here’s what I got:

Vionic pointy toe flats. A top pic and well deserved. These are the first pointy toe flats I’ve found in many years that are comfortable. Most flats don’t have enough padding in the sole for meand/or they rub on my big toe knuckle causing blisters and even nerve pain, and these have neither problem. Read Angie's notes. I got them in the silver snakeskin and the leopard print to go with outfits in cool and warm colors. These shoes are just the right amount of "dressy" for most of my activities.

Ecco patent leather sneaker in “warm grey”. Super comfy brand, I really love the metal lace hardware on these. The laces are NOT as shown in the pic, they are a cooler grey that reads as steel blue, which is very strange. I’m going to look for some grey/pewter laces which I think will look better.

Franco Sarto zipper loafers. This is a brand I find very comfortable and the leather always seems better than the price might indicate. I thought these were very modern looking.

Last but not least I needed a new pair of running/walking shoes and found these Saucony’s …one of my go-to brands for athletic shoes.

I’ve also been looking for a comfort shoe/loafer to wear at home with socks, but have rejected all candidate so far.

If you are interested in seeing what I tried on and rejected, I have documented them in this collection

http://youlookfab.com/finds/co.....ction=3442

Here are a few outfits for the new shoes (except the running shoes) ..excuse the messy hair and lack of makeup…all comments welcome of course!

- Ecco Sneakers: Raspberry floral merino cardigan, Anthro toffee embellished tank, Talbots straight leg jeans

- Ecco Sneakers: Tomato vneck sweater, Adrienne Vittadini Quilted vest with faux fur lining, Talbots straight leg jeans, scarf

- Black FS zip loafers: dark wash NYDJ skinnies, blush sweater tunic, scarf

- Black FS zip loafers: almost black wash Democracy skinnies, blush T, grey sleeveless open cardigan

- Silver Vionic Flats: black JNY skinnies, purple vneck EF sweater, scarf

- Silver Vionic Flats: black ponte slacks, burgundy top, black/white moto sweater

- Leopard Vionic Flats: Inc straight leg jeans, light blue JCrew wool sweater, toffee LLBean puffer (this puffer vest is super warm but maybe not so flattering)...I'm going to look for another top that would go with with this look and these shoes
