Absolutely I think you could wear socks under the oxfords. I bet they are comfy....

I LOVE the cut-out oxfords. And yes, with navy socks they would be perfectly office-appropriate; indeed, depending on the office they might be perfectly appropriate without socks, too. But I really love the idea of wearing, say, hot pink socks or lemon yellow socks with them. It would be fab to have contrasting socks showing in the cut-outs!

I am not as fond of the second pair of shoes, though.

Absolutely. I think they'd look great with navy socks if you want a tailored look for the office.

I have an unhealthy attraction to oxfords, so I'm all for the navy cutout ones. I agree with Rachylou on wearing fun socks with the cutout shoe. I wear my cutout booties in the colder weather with bright tights or socks.

Are the cutout shoes for office wear? Because I don't see you wearing them at the office. But socks would be great. You should wear some entertaining patterned ones for the cutouts...

Not sure which shoe question is for which exactly, but here goes.

I will wear my perforated black suede slipper shoe (essentially a loafer) with thin black socks in cool weather and with nude knee-highs when I want to give the bare/perforated look. And I wear my oxfords with and without socks (whether "acceptable" or not) but when with socks, I'm wearing them with pants that work so that the oxford is almost like a bootie and covered up. When I am wearing my version of a skinnier tapered pant, even though I wear them full length there is a lot more vamp showing, so I tend to like to wear the nude look. So I think the oxford for sure could be worn with a matching thin dark sock or with nude hose for a more open look.

The other shoe is maybe a cross between a pump and a loafer? So that may be pants- and wearer-specific. The more it is used like a heeled loafer, with a trouser or bootcut pant , the more I would wear it with a thin sock (if it fit properly). If you read Corporette, there is a lot more discussion of, and tolerance for, a standard "heeled loafer" or such worn with a trouser sock by women in serious professional dresscode jobs that still need some semblance of foot comfort (and good sense) not achieved by a stiletto pump. Some of these folks are not at all doing the ankle pant/bare leg thing.

I really like the cut out loafers. They will look really great with bare feet or nude nylons so that your foot peeks through but I also think you can totally wear them with darker socks. You'll lose some of the interest obviously but they'll still look nice.

I am searching for navy/ink shoes that my feet say "ahhhh" when I put them on, so I started with a search for Clarks.

I found these from Clarks in navy. I have been searching for navy shoes for a while to go with my navy trousers that I wear way more than I ever thought I would. However, I have been pairing those trousers with black shoes or booties instead of navy due to a dearth of comfy shoes.

Could the loafers with cutouts be worn with dark socks to make them more of a 3 season shoe?
