Borsalino, make some fab glasses. Mine are large-ish & amazingly light. They don't sit on my cheeks either.

Love the sun glasses & have to stop myself checking them out

Denise, thanks so much for this collection! It is inspirational! I turned to you because I wanted help with my "eye" for eyewear and this totally helps! I am seeing versions of these (a bit smaller) on people's faces. I think my best look involves lenses that are round on the bottom or rounded off squares. Lots of those are here. Thanks so much!

A super effort, and fun sunnies. Unfortunately, it's not a good idea to substitute sunnies for regular specs because practically - it does not work. Suz is spot on.

Also, once you take away the shaded integrity of the lenses - the aesthetic as regular eyewear changes completely because you've added in a whole lot of variables (your eyes). Your eyes look misplaced and aesthetics look odd - trust me - I have had lots of experience figuring this one out. There is a reason why there is a difference in frame design. Every so often - sunnies can work as regular frames (especially on men) - but it's not a safe bet.

I don't think regular eyewear lacks in design sensibility if you're patient. I found my favourite specs of all time this year because good things come to those who wait. I hope that makes sense. xo

Yep, I was going to add that the retro big styles such as the Marc Jacobs ones above are so glamorous, but the problem is where they hit on your face. On me, they sit right on my cheeks. Not only do I end up with dents in each cheek just below the cheekbone, but the glasses get smeary with sunscreen and makeup.

I had a pair of oversized Cole Haan sunnies a couple of summers ago and had this problem every time I wore them. Now I only use them to take YLF photos. :)

Thanks Suz. I did not even think about that. It's been a very long time since I got an RX for glasses. As I entered my 40s my eyes actually improved a bit, or maybe I just got used to not seeing everything clearly. I always passed the drivers eye test.

If the lenses are too heavy for RX glasses, but ok for sunglasses, I guess that means the lenses are quite different when you add a prescription.

Wow, what fab frames, Denise! I am in love with some of these and agree that Jody would probably wear a number of them well.

One caveat -- her prescription. For me, frames this large would be impossibly heavy. (They would also bump my cheekbones, but that is another issue). So it depends a bit on what strength of lenses she wears.

Per our conversation and your thread yesterday. I find regular glasses lag in the design aspect compared to sunnies. So that's why these are shaded lenses, which you could alter to real glasses. I'm going for big, bold and dramatic because I think you could pull it off and it would add a power chic aspect to your style.

The Prada baroque are fun, Peggy Guggenhein in Venice kind of vibe. The Wildfox glasses come in many colors, so you could try Angie's lighter color idea. The Rayban 54 mm and Prada 54 mm are big and dramatic while coming in lighter colors. The 61mm Marc Jacobs are huge but have lighter rims, and on sale too. Stella McCartney Square Frames are actually glasses. The remainder run the gamut from heavy dark and square (Michael Kors Leah 53mm and Kate Spade Brenna) to lighter frames (Rayban Wayfarer 54 mm and Youngsters) to cat eye (Marc Jacobs Cat Eye) to eclectic (Karen Walker Supers and Tory Burch Eclectic). Hope this is helpful!
