I’ve sensitive skin and can look very crepey on a bad day. I use Nars shadows and pencils and Clarins for bases and Lara Mercier sometime too.

Kat Von Dee always seems to react with me especially but I love the adventurous styling that the SA wear so I get drawn in!

I had a bout of eczema on my right eyelid last October. After it died down I switched to Bobbi Brown creamy eyeshadow stick and have not had a problem since. Since that did not bother my eyes I tried Revlon cream eyeshadows and have been fine ever since.

You also might want to try RMS eye shadows. I've got very sensitive eyes and they don't irritate at all!

Just while we’re on the topic, I also love Nars eye products: shadows, liners, all of it is soooo good and great colors. They’re expensive but they last me for years without drying, cracking or any of that.

Thx all! So interesting that folks have had luck with MAC ... I have trouble with lipstick but there's is fine so maybe eyeshadow worth a try given the reasonable price and easy to get ... Once this flare-up settles I'll give it a go!

Jessikams, Perricone’s no eyeshadow shadows look soooo good! I love how subtle yet beautiful the colors are. Maybelline made this gorgeous taupe lavender shade in a cream shadow. One of the Perricone’s shadows reminds me of it.

You are very welcome! I hope it helps and you find some products that work for you. I love eye makeup and I know I would feel sad about not wearing any. Several years ago I had a reaction to benzoyl peroxide. My eyelids swelled up badly, turned red, and burned. It wasn’t pretty. And I couldn’t wear makeup for a few weeks or longer until it cleared up.

Oh! And let me know if my cat liner instructions don’t make sense. I can try taking a photo or finding a photo online. The big thing is to bring the flick outside the folded/droopy area. There are other couple other ways to angle it through the folded area. But outer eye edge has worked best for me.

I also really like this tutorial from Lisa Eldridge. Instead of a flick you just stop the liner at the outer corner. It’s very 60s. Not great for downturned eyes imo. But fun to experiment and try! I still think tightlining is one of the best techniques in general—unless someone has very small eyes.

I was also going to suggest MAC. I have really sensitive skin and use theirs without issue (and without primer).

Another thing you may want to check is your applicator - use natural fibre brushes (not the sponges, as the latex in them can irritate eczema-prone skin), wash them often in a gentle soap, and rinse really well so there isn't a residue that can add to the irritation.

I wish I had makeup tips to share - my lids get droopier every year, it seems. :( The only liner I wear on top is tightliner under my lashes. I use a base shadow color to even tone and a little darker one to contour, but who knows if I make my eyes appear better or heavier??!!

I would definitely avoid Tarte products as they always make me itch and break out.
I like Perricone MD “no makeup” makeup products - the “no eyeshadow” liquid smooths onto the eyelid, feels nice and tightens saggy/puffy eyelids.

i sadly had to stop wearing eye shadow due to sensitivity/blepharaitis. couldnt find any that didnt irritate. i do occassionally use an eye liner gel pencil from trish macavoy which does not irritate. for mascara, i use loreal telescopic or chanel - neither of which irritate.

I watch the YouTube channel Hot and Flashy (hot flashes). Angie does makeup for hooded eyes as well as other makeup techniques. I have very sensitive skin and have struggled have with eczema most of my life. I found for a long time MAC eyeshadows worked but then they started to bother me. I am thinking of trying Lilah B. and Kjaer eyeshadows. They are clean beauty products and the colours are very neutral.

Definitely avoid any eye primers, shadows with talc bases, mica, and the like. They can be drying and irritating for really sensitive eyelids.

Check out Omiana.
https://www.omiana.com
They are free of mica, parabens, titanium dioxide and other potential irritants. Their face makeup isn't acne safe. (That's a concern for me personally.) But their eye makeup could be great for you.

I have hooded eyes. The trick for cat liner I've found is to go out on the very edge of the corner of outer eyelid and work up and out from there. That said, I find I still need a bit of medium depth shadow on the bit of upper lid skin that folds down. I've also done very bold eye makeup using one of those kajal liners in a pretty color, filled in the lid, and blended the edges up and out. Sometimes eyeliners have less irritants in them such as mica. Application on the lid has potential to crease like crazy. But it is one work around that only uses eyeliner.

How do you feel about a more dramatic lip? I think using some simple mascara, a bit of tightlining with eyeliner, and really rocking a great lipstick (nothing too brown, neutral--choose your medium to high intensity version of plum, pink, red, or the like!) would be gorgeous and fresh,. It will give your eyelids time to heal and calm down. Just be sure to really conceal any redness around nose as more saturated hues can highlight facial redness.

Hi friends, sorry that I am just swooping in with a question! But hoping you might be able to help.

I get occasional bouts of eczema, especially when we have a mild fall. I had just recently started using eyeshadow, as my eyes are more and more hooded/droopy and there are some great eyeshadow techniques to help. The trouble is, the eyeshadow is now causing and aggravating eczema on my lids!

I am wondering if anyone has had a similar problem, if they've found any products that don't cause the irritation (I've tried Almay and Clinique so far), or has any brilliant techniques for droopy eyes/eyelids that only require eyeliner.

Appreciate any help or suggestions! xx Helena
