Thanks all, especially Bijou, Isabel and Elizabeth P for detailed styling advice. I didn't buy those jeans yet, just the boots, and if you can believe it that was just the shop next door to the shoe shop who had those jeans!
My shoes are a signature and have been for quite some years now. My feet are the only part of me that didn't get fatter so there are fewer sad feelings about my feet, I'm blessed not to have any foot issues yet.
I do love the chunky heel and it makes it feel so stable, and will try hard to find exactly the right pair of cropped pants and try some dresses I already have.
It was while in the dressing room of the shop next door, flush with the success of buying the boots, trying the jeans and doubting myself, that I thought aha, THIS is when I take pics and ask for advice. I see Angie has a post on cropped jeans today. I may yet get those ones but going to another fashion show today so may get other ideas. I am still scared of the wide crops but opening my mind just a little x

Oh, those boots are FAB! If they are comfy, I vote keep. No guilt should be shed over 50 pairs of shoes either (I know I have too many, at around 80, but I really don't care... I love shoes).

I also like the cropped jeans on you, and agree with styling ideas above. I would also like to see you in some that have a wider leg, for some reason I think that proportion might look great on you.

Very nice boots and they look great on you! I like the deliberateness of using them to integrate cropped pants into your wardrobe too and think it was very sweet of you to have included your sister in the selection.
Agreeing with Bijou that with this trimmer version of cropped pants a longer top might create better flow between your shoulders and hips.

I like these boots very much and I always love your style picks. Interesting shoes and boots seems to be a great signature for you, and these are no exception, so I hope you get to enjoy these a lot.

I have some new boots that are similar to yours will wear them with dresses (in finds is a typical dress that I wear with boots) and also cropped jeans, so very similar to the jeans that you are wearing.

I like the cropped jeans on you very much. How I would like to see this styled is with a long-line gilet or jacket to dress up the jeans (your sleeveless top looks too summery to my eye with the more wintery boots, I think a summer sandal boot would work better with your top and jeans). I have included in finds my boots and gilet and also a photo of a Zara long line jacket to give you an idea of the types of jackets that I love with a heavier boot and cropped jeans.

My shoes that I wear with summer tops and jeans are also shown in finds - the gold opened toed boot, that is much more of a summer look.

That worked. Have never worn this sort of wider cropped jeans, not sure. These cover the very top of the boots but do let the interesting buckle show. Not sure I would wear that top either but I put it on to go to the store as the colourways of random red patches are similar.

Well, with $80 off from retailer's discount, $170 from my sister's birthday voucher, that left me $ 79 to pay. I tried them on again first. Definitely comfy enough for going out to dinner- fine for parking down the road and walking. But now, how to style? Please help!
I tried some cropped jeans on in a store today but was unsure. Advice?
Pics failing to load, may have to log out and in again. Will try soon.

Those are cool boots at a great price. You look great in red, so build a red and black/grey/white capsule around them and maybe some red lipstick to match the red in the boots. You might keep other pieces simple to let the boots be the star. A black with red bag and red leather jacket would be wonderful.

They are cool and have so much personality.
It seems you have space for them, you will wear them, and you can afford them. I don't believe in arbitrary numbers-unless as a tool because one's shopping is out of control. Or one wants to wear each item more in this season or year, and purchasing is counter productive.
I
say this as someone who has less shoes than you, but LOTS of accessories.

Those are great! My shoes are spread out over too many closets and shelves to make counting them a rewarding exercise. For my own sake, I hope I have fewer than 50 . That means I'm not wearing a whole heck of a lot of boots and shoes if I have more . Anyways, these are gorgeous and will look good with a dress, jeans, wide legged crops, etc.

The boots are great! I have well over 50 pairs of shoes. I'm probably closer to 80 pairs, so 50 seems like a small, well-curated collection.

Those are fab boots! Cropped pants are a natural for this height, but I could see them working with skirts too. I also frequently roll or cuff my straight leg jeans -- I bet a large cuff would look good with these.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm pretty sure my shoe collection (4 season, spanning everything from tall cold-weather boots to flip-flops, amounts to over 50 pairs as well. If you love and wear your collection and have a storage solution for them, no need to feel guilty!

Hi all again, well after trying hard to purge my shoes,I have just this evening checked them all really thoroughly again and realised I missed counting 2 pairs of high heels that I wear seldom. What with re-counting the 2 pairs I couldn't purge that I still love... what do you know I am STILL at 50 pairs with the 2 new pairs I bought on holiday. I have just swapped over most of my summer sandals for ballet flats, loafers, brogues and boots in my own closet in our bedroom, and stacked the summer ones in boxes in my daughter's spare room with the various high heels etc. ( If she comes to stay at the weekend she just has to put up with all those boxes there.)
My only sister, who lives in Oxford, England, had not given me a birthday present start of March and while I was away she sent a card with a gift voucher for my favorite shoe shop, Mischief shoes...
Also Mischief is having a big discount until this Friday of $ 80 off if you spend over a certain amount. So with $ 80 off and her voucher, these will cost me $ 70. I have asked her and she likes them.
I can cope with the heel, I tried them on in the other colourway( plain black) and they have ordered these dark navy ones with red on across to my local store. They are cooler and funkier than my other boots, a bit too high for everyday work wear but fairly comfy and I think will be fun for social events, dinner, movies etc.
I have not yet tried the cropped wide pants thing but kind of feel
( yikes) that I might have to with these... thoughts? These will be pair number 51 (hangs head) xx
Please offer styling ideas?
