You can always return it if the pants don't work out. I'm probably biased towards suits because I wear them often, but having a full suit that you can pull out on the occasions you might need one is always good. Not only that, but this is a suit that you could wear easily as separates - that jacket would look great with a pair of jeans. One caveat - if you buy these items to wear together occasionally as a suit, you'll want to dry clean both items at the same time, even if you haven't worn one.
