Thank you to everyone who invested time sharing their knowledge and experience. What I learned from this is that until or unless I am willing to order multiple sizes on my first try and spend a little extra time and money to return, I should hold off. Forewarned is forearmed! That's the great value of this forum, and I appreciate everyone's collective wisdom!

I am a huge fan of their clothes, though I have the advantage that their SF "design lab" is a few blocks from me so I often get to try things on ahead of buying. I have a bit of trouble with sizing so I always buy things in both XS and S and return one, which is a pain with their non-free returns. I am a 2 in most brands, and my size there is 0 or 2, XS or S, so I'd say it's true to size and some items run large.

I like their clothing because it's simple, high-quality, often has a great minimalist sensibility. I was more in love with their collections 3-4 years ago, when it was a bit less trend-focused - I'm not a sporty / beachy girl so their summer collection isn't really doing it for me. But I still buy a lot of my clothes there. I have found just enough things with slightly avant garde vibe that it's become huge part of my look.

They've been criticized for not having larger sizes, which they definitely should listen to. On the other hand, I appreciate how they sometimes show a huge range of sizes modeling their pants (it's really interesting to see how the same size can look so different on a tall, slender model vs a shorter, curvier person like me).

kkards -- I remember that article, and I've noticed that Everlane does now list the factories' names: https://www.everlane.com/factories

I'm not going to step up to defend the "radical transparency" claims, since to my eye it's more marketing than ethics -- they know their target demographic and are making an effective pitch. I suspect their decision to start listing the names of factories is in response to those criticisms.

I think comparing Everlane to H&M and Zara is a bit odd, since I rarely find the latter two appealing, just from a design standpoint (and way too many synthetics for me, whereas Everlane focuses largely on natural fibres) not to mention the B&M retail experience -- which Everlane doesn't really do, they have, what? two showrooms? But just stepping into cluttered, poorly organized stores, or experiencing bad in-store CS, has turned me off to certain brands.

I stopped looking at Everlane because they never, not once, had the item I wanted in stock. Every single thing I have ever tried to buy from them has been sold out.

Perhaps they have addressed this issue with their supply chain in recent years?

Slightly annoying return/exchange policy (free return shipping if you opt for store credit), inconsistent sizing. But their products are well designed and really well constructed *for the price* -- I keep coming back to them because their aesthetic is distinctive and appealing to me, and they're willing to disclose more about their manufacturing process than other comparable companies.

I've attached Finds for my successful Everlane purchases below (the white sweater is OTW, actually, but if it fits like the black cardigan, it will be a success). I also have a couple t-shirts, but am not sold on them. DH likes the men's t-shirts quite well, though.

I'm not sure about the sizing, as it seems inconsistent from piece to piece, but I do like the fact that they give garment measurements and that works really well for me. Also, the on-site reviews allow the users to note height, weight, and bra size, so I use that feature to assess fit. I have ordered one shirt and one pair of shoes and was pleased with the fit, quality, and customer service on both occasions.

I've found there stuff to be nice, but not fabulous. sizing can be inconsistent, I'd order 2 sizes and plan to return 1.

this maybe of interest...this really made me think about the brand in a different light.

The only downside I've found is with Returns. Just read the policy. It hasn't stopped me from ordering, but it's not Nordstrom simple.

Tshirts seem true to size. For dresses I've only ordered boxier styles and I use my smaller size for those. Pants I haven't experienced.

...and what about sizing? I'm usually a 4/6, but according to their measurements, I would be a 00. Does that sound correct?

I have had nothing but positive experiences with their clothes and their ordering platform. Not sure why anyone would be wary of purchasing from them. Quality clothing, gorgeous designs, and priced direct- to -consumer. As a matter of fact, I just opened a box yesterday and wore a new dress and shoes for work and loved both. Conversion to Cdn$ plus duty makes the cost a whole lot higher here, but it was worth it for me as it's completely different from the usual mall-fare.

Hello wise ones,

Can someone please explain the reputation of Everlane to me? I recall references to the company on the forum as "oh that Everlane"--although this might be more the tone I was hearing than actual content. Should I be wary of purchasing from them, and if so, why/in what ways?

Thank you for your guidance!
