If you don't have a 70s streak to your style, you might feel better in non-boots with the flared skirt. If that's the case, try booties or pumps instead. If you DO have a 70s streak to your style, I think your styling works quite nicely

I agree with all of the others - these skirts look fine in length and overall styling to me, too!

One thing you could try with the flared skirt is a close-fitting black t-shirt and a cropped denim jacket with some flats. That's just a suggestion, though, otherwise YLF!

This flared skirt combo totally works for me (the pencil outfit too ;>)

Love the length and the silhouette on you! I'd vote, too, for lighter footwear, even a black bootie would work here, or a wedge or simple pump in black or a neutral. I think the flared skirt flatters you as much as the pencil, and the length is spot on. I think you've just mastered the styling of the pencil, and you're still learning how to style the flare.

I never stopped wearing flared skirts, because they suited my shape and are so cool in the summer. I am resolved to avoid the too sweet and girl look I sometimes get with them, though! Your look here is quite feminine, but grown up. Brava!

I like the flared skirt a lot. May I make a suggestion? Try it without the boots, maybe with nude hose and pumps or booties instead. I think showing a little leg would take away the frumpiness vibe and make it look more current - you paired it with denim, and that's very current.

They both look good to my eye too. It's just a matter of taste and what occasion you are dressing for.

I love the skirt! So flattering on you! I don't think it's too long, the fabric is soft at the bottom and so I find the lenght lovely!

YLF, I see a beautiful siluette here, with the flared skirt and tuck in, but also like the pencil very much on you. It probably depends on the occasion and mood I think...
Same problem here! I almost live in skirts and dresses nowadays but not really use flared cuts anymore for work except a few for summer big heat. I am an 45, and an hourglass with apple tendencies, so that may worsen the flare/short top/-tuck in problem, and limiting my choices perhaps-but it's also the girly effect of the flares-which hold me back on using them on more than a few occasions.
I will follow this thread for some great suggestions. Tanx for the thread!:-)

Confession - I am yet to read Angie's blog on flattering skirt proportions properly so that might make a difference to this post!!

I've realised I don't really have many flared skirts in my wardrobe even though I wear skirts a lot and I am a pear shape so in theory they should probably be my best option.

Here I'm trying one of the few flared skirts I have with a tucked in shirt as per Angie's recommendations for tops to wear with flared skirts. I'm thinking it is probably too long and therefore a bit frumpy. Thoughts? Also, I've added a pencil skirt which is more my style. Do you think the pencil skirt is more flattering? Am I right to prefer pencil skirts or is it just that I don't have the right flared skirts?
