That outfit in pic 1 has me swooning! Perfect in every way! You look great! (And no, I've not ever hacked off any of my jeans - but you're certainly making me think about it!)

ETA: those boots have caught my eye. Can you tell me approximately how high they are in the shaft? And do they fit snuggly around your leg?

I folded my skinnies way under in my WIW today. I'm reluctant to actually cut them, since I won't be able to wear them in the winter. I have a pair of mother olive corduroy crop skinnies with frayed edge and have been wearing them so much the last two months.

Vivian, I have that sweater in the bright blue, and I love it. Lightweight, soft and drapey. I found it TTS/verging on slightly roomy -- I got it in a M. I almost could have gotten away with a S except for (sigh) hips.

ETA: in the bright blue, it is a very very close match with my blue leather moto jacket, and I wore it layered that way one day last week along with skinny jeans but neglected to take photos. So it looks like Ann and I were thinking along the same lines with that tunic sweater!

Chiming back in to say Denise, you are definitely not alone! My jeans almost always "grow" on me over the course of a day. Bootcut hems that just brush the floor at my heels are dragging by the end if the day, even with a belt. And I don't have much of a booty anyway, so I fear I'm a perpetual victim of baggy-butt syndrome. I have a few jeans that feel like skinnies when I first put them on, but are boyfriends by the end of the day.

I haven't tried it but most of my skinnies are a more relaxed fit so it might not work. I really like the layered look in #1. It is a bit more streamlined and flows with the skinny and boot to my eye.

I've hemmed several skinnies and one straight legged pair that almost look like a cropped flare. It's a great way to experiment with this look without going shopping. I pinned mine and had a tailor do it. How long did it take you to get the bottoms to fringe out?

BTW you look great in all of these iterations, I love the way the pants work with the boots. I usually find my jeans get longer not shorter. As the day goes on as they stretch out. Usually around and inch. The crotch falls lower, like a drop crotch or diaper butt. Am I the only one?

Those boots are awesome, and each of these outfits is totally fab. My favorite is with the new sweater--love the casual feel of that one, and you look happy in it!

I like the length you have them here. I have not been brave enough to cut off skinnies. I've made a pair of clamdigger length shorts out of two old pairs of jeans (one Gap boyfriend and one very old pair of bootcuts), with happy results, but both of those I cut a few inches long and then roll them to suit my liking.

I have never intentionally bought cropped skinnies, although a couple of pairs of skinnies I have are almost short enough on me to qualify as cropped -- I always wear them with boots that mask the length. I end up rolling my full length skinnies to wear with taller shaft booties, but sometimes I could see wanting a more streamlined look. Hmm.

Well, you're giving me ideas. You look great, by the way. Love that green jacket on you!

I recently bought a pair of cropped jeans and understand what you say about the hem gradually heading north during the day.

These look great on you and you are so brave to cut them! I have only chopped jeans into shorts--I have never thought about cutting crops (but now I might!) I can hardly see the cut edge but think it is a fun juxtaposition with the other polished pieces.

With all the talk of cropping, I got brave and went after a couple of pair of 'redundant' skinnies that were in need of a little something. One (not pictured) is a medium blue denim with even lighter floral pattern that I cut and am fraying (boy does that ever take me back to my childhood!). Will style and show soon. The other pair is a dark ink, almost black pair of Joes that I cut for my high shaft moto booties. I loved the free and breezy feel of them AND the lack of bunching and fuss of the original length, that I wore them to work on Friday. Styled here with a navy high/low hem wool sweater, navy blazer and my/our trusty green NAS long jacket. I also tried on a new Rack cashmere sweater that arrived, which has a cool scarf hem and boxy shape. Anyway, hoping to get feedback on the length. I don't plan on hemming, as I'm liking the vibe of the rough edge. I will say that it's tricky figuring out how much to cut, as skinnies move around alot during the day and consequently the sliver of skin can go from non-existant to 2 inches, depending. Have any of you tried cutting your skinnies?
