Oh, and about Judy's comment: You do have a point, and it's in keeping with a resolution some of us made to buy fewer things but of higher quality. I don't mind doing that with a dress, for example, but I do wonder about a tee.

Nicole, great idea - I don't have an artistic bone in my body (other than the writing kind). Who wants to design something? We have so much talent on this forum!

That's a gorgeous t shirt!

I just want to encourage some of you to rethink the whole "I'd never pay that much for a t shirt" or "those jeans are out of my price range"...because if you end up say, buying two or three t shirts, or even four, from say U.O. and the Gap and then J Crew and then even Target, you've still spent probably 88.00 dollars and you've got some ok shirts, but wouldn't you rather spend the 88 on one FABULOUS one? Same with jeans, one incredible pair is worth two or three just ok ones. It's something I continue to try to get my head around these days and do more often. In the end I think I will have more things I really love rather than what I've kind of settled for. The hard part for me is that it does mean buying less items, and really, shopping less, as in less times, and for a lot of us shopping is a major pastime. It will leave a lot more empty time :). But just think, if you get that marc jacobs t shirt, you'll save a whole lot of trips to the all those other stores! And think how neat our closets will be!

How about a YLF arty tee?

I googled around and there ARE companies that let you design your own silk screen and order tees. This place http://www.youdesignit.com/?gc.....GgodkVhxDw has as low as 6 piece minimum!

Only problem is we have so many artistic women on this site--how could we ever pick just one design?

Maybe 7th grade silkscreening was a little less intense. My silkscreening class was for credit. It cost upwards of $300 in supplies. Frankly I'd rather just buy the MJ shirt.

As far as silk screening goes-- have you looked on etsy? I bought one last year-- now that I think about it, it is an arty t and it was reasonably priced. Nicole, I'm with you on the $88 for a t.

hmmm...I guess my memories of 7th grade are fuzzy. We made them in art class. Every student drew an image and we voted on 5 finalists. Each student then got to pick which of the five images they wanted and do their own silkscreen.

Nicole, the cost of silkscreening something yourself is going to be far more expensive than that MJ tee. It's only worth it if you're doing multiples and planning to sell them. I'm not even sure how you would do it without a silkscreen studio. I guess there are places where you could get it made but I am unaware of them.

I found it very difficult personally. I could never get the glue on in an even coat and my screen was ALWAYS clogged no matter how much I blasted it. Eventually I blasted a hole through it and had to have it patched.

OK can I just say how releived I am when I saw you guys commenting on the price of the tee. Because when I opened the link in the OP, I was disgusted by the price and the likelihood of how much the materials cost to make it, and how little the worker was paid to sew it.

Why not make your own? I remember doing silk screening in junior highschool. It wasn't that difficult, pretty fun, and very messy!

I think a graphic T is anything with a graphic on it, which doesn't preclude these types of t-shirt. I just think it excludes things like logos, slogans, Bugs Bunny tees, etc.

I don't think i could pull it off, I gravitate more towards something like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA.....%26otn%3D2

Too bad it's sold out in the stores, the ebay price is quite ridiculous for a t-shirt, no matter how cool it is. I really do want an arty tee now for layering purposes.

Here's one (can you tell I am a tad obsessed with Marc Jacobs right now?)

I can see it working as Angie describes (under a black corduroy jacket, for example)
