The switch to non-black neutrals sounds just right for you. As for feet, just as Angie said, mine have lost their padding and shoes that used to be comfortable are too hard for me now. They have not particularly grown (yet).

I like the plan, Suntiger! Since you are VERY much into earth tones, I'm glad to hear that you're moving things into that direction and balancing out the black.

I like the priority of the classics ....I ALSO want to try wrap tops again, but they need to have a high neckline since I don't have the real estate...

As for feet - they have a mind of their own as we age. Many of my clients have longer and wider feet now. Mine though, have shrunk. They are even narrower than they used to be - no more padding. But the length is just the same. I believe this has happened to Janet and Shevia too.

Was wondering about that LaPed. Aside from hiking, biking, and the couple months I returned to the office a few days a week, I haven't really worn shoes since Covid hit. My feet are still very narrow, just longer I think. If anything I've had to add holes to my Birks to tighten them. Maybe I just have less tolerance since I'm in socks most of the time!

As an adult, I used to wear a 9.5, but now am a solid 10. My feet used to be narrow but now are medium. My 96 YO mother also wore 9.5, but now she’s 10.5. Her feet are still narrow. My grandmother had very very narrow feet, like a ruler!

I think a lot of people have discovered that their shoes are too small this year! Feet tend to spread when unconfined, and anyone who's WFH and forgoing their work shoes in favour of slippers/socks/bare feet may find their old shoes don't have quite enough width/length/volume. (My mother was a hardcore barefoot hippie back in the day and now needs a 4E (!!!) width).

ST, so sorry to hear about the sad story, even though you seem to have built a fulfilling and creative life anyway. About the dry shampoo—no, I’ve never tried it. If you want to try stretching out the washing, you’ll probably have to deal with the grotty hair for a while. Tack a day onto your usually schedule. It will feel gross that day. Keep doing it every third day until it feels like normal “time to wash my hair day” on day 3, then repeat at every 4 days, etc.

My life has many blessings, but a baby isn't one of them (sad story).Does weight loss shrink feet if gain makes them bigger?
As far as hair- mine feels grotty in 2 days. Do you use dry shampoo in between?

Nice, sophisticated color scheme.

I think most people’s feet spread as we age. Mine have gone the opposite direction, from 10 to 9.5. But really, with shoes, fit is so important and there are so many dimensions that trying on is more important than size anyway.

How long do you want to grow your hair? I’m surprised to hear you wash it every other day (unless it’s shorter than I realize). I do that when mine is short, but one problem I have as a swimmer when my hair is long is that I don’t think it’s good for my hair to be washed as often as I want to swim. Right now pools are closed and I’m washing my hair every ~8 days. If you try to space your washings out more, it will take a couple cycles for your hair to figure out what’s going on. At first it will get oily as fast as it does now. After a couple washes on the new schedule, it “learns” to slow down.

I like reading your post as I’m on the same journey.

They say we shrink as we get older so I think for some that goes for feet as well. My feet grew when I had my baby at 44 years old and they went to a US size 12 and I cried

I enjoyed reading this. I have never had feet get smaller except when they are cold. In college I wore a 7 narrow. Now I am an 8 regular. If you are on your feet a lot or have had a baby, they seem to grow. They can also grow if you gain weight. Shoes can become uncomfortable after being comfortable for a couple of years. Something inside like arch support or padding may break down.

Just saw I didn't write much about silouette in my other planning post. So- I want to have a variety of pants silouettes. I still like leggings, tunics, and tall boots for deep cold weather and more casual occasions. Joggers + simple long sleeve Ts for wfh and sleep. Also wanting more straight leg classic shape pants (as long as pull on) with wrap style or otherwise classic fit tops. Flowy pants + halter neck tops I'm drawn to for transitional weather (the look of a jumpsuit but 2 pieces). And possibly a pair of bootcut jeans (with A Lot of stretch). The main thing is wanting to keep to mostly full length.
Will write about skirts later...

I wrote a bit about this in an earlier post but Angie inspired me to add more :)

Color: I really want to have a wardrobe with a variety of neutrals. Right now black is by far the most represented- but I want to move to a one in one out (excepting basics) and strengthen my dark brown, burgundy, cinnamon, and camel/tan/warm beige. I especially prefer neutral only outfits at home. I've moved to often just 2 colors in outfits instead of 3, since most of my masks are (subtle) prints. Team matchy, or low contrast mask!

Shoes: I think my feet got longer :/ My snowboots feel mighty tight now- but all the ones I've seen look so cluttery. On my tan mules my heels are beyond the back of the shoes, and they're the transitional shoes I like most. Others are just uncomfortable. Do feet shrink back? It may have to be the year of shoes if I don't stay wfh. One way or the other, more Birkies are in my future (but not for work)!

Bags: the bags I use the most by far are my black and cognac medium crossbodies. Looking to add burgundy to my "stable." I may treat myself to one in hand tooled leather for a change.

Cosmetics-skincare: I'm keeping things very simple at home-mascara, eyeshadow on lid only (pan project), brows, foundation (oil based for winter). No lipstick, blush. I do play up my eyes more when I go out. At home mani pedi no polish. Doing my brows myself- not perfect but it's been fine. Very simple skincare routine- cleansing cream, tone w witch hazel, antioxidant serum, eye cream, olive oil to remove eye makeup.

Hair- last proper cut was nearly a year ago. It's growing but slooowly. Every few months I hit the greys with color. It's actually been fairly cooperative- with some help from heated flat brush. I'm just washing it every other day and using a hair serum. Low maintenance!
