It seems my comment got cut off after 'I understand that' - oops!

What I was going to say was actually exactly that - I understand it may be difficult to get exact fibre % breakdowns, but I agree with @chewy that the overall fabric descriptions could still be improved a little.

Either way, it's good to hear that your products are mostly made from natural materials. Good luck with the revamp!

Fabric descriptions could be improved, even if fiber content is unknown. I want to know first if it is a knit or woven, then the weight and sheerness, and lastly the hand- is it stiff, or fluid, etc. Observations about surface treatments, sheen, and comparison to other fabrics should also be included, as well as any surface treatments or embellishments.

Thank you again for your feedback. We truly want to help with online ordering/sizing and your feedback helps us so much!

For fabric content, 90% of what we carry is cotton based.
The product description offers what fabric is used. If we ever use polyester, that is noted, which is rarely used in our pieces.
We use a majority of cotton and viscose.

The leftover fabric we use has to be scientifically tested in order to get the actual % of the content (which is costly to do). We do have someone on staff from the university with 40+ years of fabric knowledge that helps us gauge what is in the fabric.

For model pages, sizing chart,s etc. we know this is old and needs to be updated. I have personally been working on getting all of the model's measurements and photos updated for a newly revamped page. This is the #1 complaint we receive so you aren't alone in voicing this.
We've been updating all of the digital patterns on every item to make it easier to compare to other things in your closet that you already own when shopping online.

Also, we are a small, one-woman-run company and always learning what works/doesn't work and ways to improve so please keep your feedback coming!

Agreed - the sizing page shows different models, for example, but the actual product pages don't specify which model is which (or even their body measurements) in the individual listings. That would really help!

The other thing that will stop me from buying is the lack of fabric explanation - I understand that . Like 'knit fabric with a sweater-y fabric' doesn't really tell me if it's made from polyester or cotton etc...?

It would be helpful if your company had a sizing chart that shows the correlation from a typical retail size (with body measurements) to the size from your company in addition to photos of people in your clothing and the garment size. Garment dimensions are not that helpful without an idea of how much ease is intended.

Hi Friends!
Thank you for the review of our pieces :)
I thought it might be helpful to address a few of the issues concerning the sizing and returns.

Our sizing is consistent, however, like most fabric - the fit can be different depending on whether you are wearing something that has stretch, darts etc. Also, the way I design certain pieces, they may run larger/smaller, depending on the style.

We provide both the digital patterns as well as fit suggestions based on how I designed the fit to be. We use ONLY customers to model our products that we photograph to show all sizing and how the item looks on the model, as we know shopping online can be hard! We carry XS-3X sizing.

The olive blazer does run small and we actually recommend on our fit suggestions to size up one from your typical sizing because the fabric has zero stretch in it. It's the only color/fabric of our knit blazer that runs small. For all others knit blazers, we recommend your typical size in a top.

The boyfriend shirt I designed to be an oversized fit, drapey fit and we recommend your typical size in this. If you don't prefer an oversized fit, like the way the top was designed to fit, you would want to size down for sure. Ultimately, it won't be the style that it was designed to be, but everyone has their own style. All of our models shown on the website wore their typical top size.
I'm happy to hear the open-v top worked for you!

By using 100% surplus fabrics, every fabric, even for the same design can have a different fit. Always best to compare measurements online, and fit suggestions based on feedback from our customers who model.

Regarding returns, we do not offer free postage to return pieces. The reason we don't pay for postage is simple, you are our main focus.
All companies who offer free returns are charging you, it's included in your price whether you return or keep an item. Which as consumers, we rarely consider this factor. We rarely consider the cost that goes into free returns as well as sale pricing. When purchasing an item via traditional marketing - the item is already marked up sometimes as much as 8X to account for being able to offer it "on sale". It's a cycle we've been in for decades.

We choose not to upcharge an extra $7-$8 per piece to cover postage costs on less than 3% of total orders that are actually returned/exchanged. To us, it's not fair to have you pay for the possibility of another customer returning something. It just makes better business sense for us to do this upfront.
You can read more about our transparency here https://evolverieclothing.com/.....nt-pricing

We provide transparent pricing and do offer free postage exchange on your first return. We also offer free sizing guidance if you ever need it. Our goal is to keep prices for ethically made and sustainably sourced clothing affordable. I didn't start this brand to make a few extra dollars off up charging my customers for postage or participating in big mark-ups to offer sales, It just doesn't make sense to me as a consumer or business owner. We aren't doing things the "traditional" way that we are all used to or what you may find from even small private label brands.

Our focus is on providing the best product at affordable pricing up-front that also supports the people that make our clothing and using surplus fabrics with our customers in mind.

In any case, I'm so happy to have you share your thoughts with the community and please let me know if I can help in any way with sizing in the future! I hope this helps explain a little more about what evolverie is :)

All the best,
Amy

Evolverie Clothing has an interesting business model: they use mostly waste fabric from the garment industry, partner with manufacturers working in ethical ways, and strive to keep prices affordable. This is the golden trifecta, and I give them kudos for that.
I ordered the three pieces pictured below. Processing and shipping were fast. My order came in a mailer made of recycled materials and with a hand written note.
The knit blazer in olive runs small. It fits, but doesn't come anywhere near closing in the front. This is the design of it, but I feel it is meant to be a little roomier than it is. The fabric is substancial and warm- this is not a summer piece for me, even in air conditioning. The sleeves looked odd until I pushed them up. I think that's the best way to wear this. It's really more of a sweater and less of a blazer, but I think it will be a nice layering piece for cooler weather.
The Open V Flutter Sleeve Top in Taupe runs true to size. I would call it more of a mushroom than taupe- in some lights it reads gray, in some more brown, and it has a purple cast to it. The fit is good, it's a simple blouse and very versatile. The fabric is a little lightweight, so worn over a dark bottom there will be grinning. I like tops like this. I used to get them from a large retailer that I won't name, but since swearing off fast fashion I have not been able to find them. It's nice to find somewhere that carries them in a slow fashion model.
The Boyfriend Oversize Button Up Shirt in Chocolate runs large. I think that with styling, it will be ok, but if I were in store I would have sized down. I do like the lines of this, although I wish the color wasn't quite so flat. I think this will be another versatile piece with many latering options.
My biggest complaint with this company is the inconsistent sizing. One piece was too small, one was too big, and one was just right. Returns are on your own dime, so I will keep what I have and be more careful before ordering again. I would still order from them, but would consult with them on sizing before ordering.
