All too often seen strictly as a comedy, but there are so many poignant moments of "woman's plight"--including the phrase mentioned above about wishing "she" were prettier. But the scene that gets me the most in that movie is when the guy is trying to put the moves on her, and she finds herself defenseless--running around the room trying to shoo him away like a rabid dog. It is a real eye-opener for men (hopefully?) as to the kinds of things women have to deal with on a regular basis, and its "just life" for us to be made to feel like objects that men can fondle and own. It is so empowering when Tootsie finally stands up for herself, but (and its been years since I've seen it) I recall that "she" finally had to come out of the disguise to get anything accomplished.
