UmmLila--darn, I'm sorry that these shoes didn't work out for you. I'm a little befuddled because I think I have duck-feet (although I never need wide shoes) and these don't seem all that narrow. Maybe my feet are just squishy?

Water--Thank you for chiming in! I'm glad to hear that they are not too stiff. I'm not worried about the uppers, but the sole gives me pause.

I feel compelled to un-lurk to chime in on my experience with these shoes. I have had a navy pair for about a year and while the bottoms do remain what I would call stiff the shoe itself broke in very quickly and never gave me blisters even during break in. I can wear comfortably without socks. I also ordered a 1/2 size up as recommended and they have not stretched to be too big.

I ordered these, and found them beautiful. However I sent them back because I found them too narrow on my (arthritic) right toe. They are so gorgeous.

Lisap--these shoes are a bit above my normal price-point--although, since joining YLF, I am finding that the price ceiling is becoming a little more porous ;-)

Traci--Thanks for the reminder that I should Google reviews! What a thing to forget! Having done so, I'm a little horrified by the reviewers who spoke of being in agony and wearing the shoes for only an hour at a time and adding small increments of time daily until the shoes stretched out. I would not buy a shoe that was not mostly-comfortable right out of the box. It does, however, make me wonder it I should size down for comparison. I'd hate for these to stretch out and become sloppy.

I don't have personal experience with them, but one thing I've liked about Everlane is they work heavily with bloggers to give clothes for detailed reviews on blogs. I've found the reviews to be honest and unbiased. I just search Everlane (product name) review and find several. I did a quick look through what I found and one reviewer said they never fully loosened up, a couple others were happy with the loafers, so I guess it's a toss up. I find this blogger very reliable. http://www.temporaryhousewifey.....fer-review

I've been moderately obsessed with these shoes recently. I've only ordered from Everlane once - it's kind of out of the picture now with the US/Cdn dollar diff so I will be admiring these shoes from afar for now. That stiffness sounds worrisome.

I just bought a pair of the Everlane Modern loafers and I need some input on the fit. First of all, I think they fit. They are a bit narrow, but not pinching (which is great, because, although unfussy, my feet are on the wider side), so acceptable in this regard. I sized-up per Everlane's suggestion, so there is a bit of extra length, but no slip at the heel (so far, during limited house trial). The issue is the stiffness. I do not frequently buy loafers so I have little experience, here, but these are very stiff--the soles are stiff. Does this cause a comfort issue over a longer period of wear? Should I expect the stiffness to last or do they break in fairly quickly? Any user experience will be helpful.
