Carla, re: vacuum, I also recommend looking at Miele canisters unless you really hate canisters or don’t want to deal with the bags. I’ve had mine for 13 years and love it.

Well... I did it!!! It likely won't come for two or so weeks since order fulfillment is likely delayed, but I'm very excited.

I also have a Dyson fan and a cordless vac - both I purchased refurbished from the Dyson ebay store. That meant they were priced lower, and they've both worked a charm - the fan is elegant and effective, and I LOVE my cordless vac.

cherylm - that makes sense the dryer was a better fit for you. Glad you like it! My hair is stick straight and dries pretty quickly, so my goal is to coax some bend and volume into it, and I don't mind fussing with attachments and tools. I also wouldn't use it for travel (especially since I fried my curling iron on my last international trip even with the correct voltage converter!)

marilyn - I bet it was a round brush hot dryer. Even a regular old round brush can get hopelessly tangled in long hair. I'm an old hand with styling tools at this point though, so am not too worried about tangling.

HJ - that's encouraging to hear!!! I'll share any notes once I have time to try it out.

Carla - I highly recommend a Dyson vac! I have hardwood and tile with a few area rugs and it does a very thorough job even with two cats in the house. I actually LIKE to vacuum now, which is something I never thought I'd say. I also have an old upright Dyson which was SUPER powerful and great on carpeted floors, but it was demoted to the closet once I moved into an apartment without carpeting.

I have watched lots of YouTube reviews for the Dyson Airwrap and they rave about it. I don't blowdry or curl my hair so I don't want one but I have heard they are fantastic.
We need a new vacuum. I have been looking at a Dyson. Maybe I will also investigate Sharp.

I have been eyeing it too! I have not dried my hair for many years, but it takes forever to dry and cherylm's comment echoes what I have read. But is so expensive. But I do have a birthday coming up. But shoes .

Regardless, vacuum wise we have the wireless kind that hooks to the wall with different attachments and it is LIFE CHANGING. I am not kidding. I live in a very dusty climate.

I have the Airwrap and love it. Admittedly, I’ve only used the curling barrels once (I have an eight month old and limited time). I use one of the brush attachments just about every time I shower. I never mastered the skill of using a dryer and round brush so being able to tame my limp, frizzy, crazy post-partum hair in 10 minutes made it worth the Sephora sale price for me. I think I bought mine in October 2019 during a similar Sephora sale. When I did use the barrels it took me until the last section to get the hang of it, but I loved the result, even as it relaxed over 3 days. It gave me the volume I was always after. I think I will figure out the barrels and use them more when I go back to work. I was never at risk of getting my hair caught since it blows air, and it didn’t get hot enough for me to burn my fingers which was a huge plus.

Those airwraps scare me. One time when I went for a haircut my stylist said she had just cut one out of someones hair. She came in crying with the thing massively tangled in her hair and a towel over her head. Don't know what brand it was. If you get one be careful!

Sounds like I'm in the minority with Dyson vacuums. I have one and will not buy another. Mine is a canister. Nice enough vacuum but not worth the price. I gifted my son one of the higher end Shark vacuums. It's fantastic and while reading reviews many people said they replaced Dysons with it.

I don't have the airwrap, but have been stalking the Dyson hair dryer fo a while. We have two Dyson vacuums - an old DC33 and a V7 stick cordless. Both work great on carpet, tile, hardwood (even stairs and area rugs) in a house with 2 cats. I wouldn't hesitate to buy anything by Dyson - and if money were no object, I would get the dryer in a heartbeat!

Carla, we have a stick Dyson. Our first Dyson was a canister. I love the stick one. No plugging and unplugging the cord. We have wood and stone floors, no carpet. We do have rugs. I do all of one type of floor then change the head and go back and do the rest. It’s so much easier. And seeing all the dirt is strangely fascinating. I’m surprised Bob Barker (not his real name) has any fur left at all!

Runcarla - We have two actually- first one is almost 15 years old, not sure if still available but second one is brand new. Both fantastic. Hardwood floors and ceramic tiles, no carpets. New one doesn’t have a cable and is great for vacuuming furniture and car too.

Yes - I have tried it and I’m not wildly enthusiastic about it. It is a lot of pieces - the wand is heavy and requires two different attachments to dry your hair (each attachment dries in different directions).

I liked it at first but but soured on after traveling with it - too much bulk, weight and pieces. The cord is much too long and bulky also.

Caveat - I’m not much of a hair person and find fussing with my hair a pain. I was hoping to find something faster and easier than a blow dryer and brush. This wasn’t it for me.

I exchanged for the Dyson hair dryer which I love. If you have wavy or curly hair the diffuser is FANTASTIC.

For over a year now I've been looking into getting a Dyson Airwrap. It'd be a big investment for me... but could also mean lots of great hair days. Quarantine browsing has me looking in earnest... particularly with a Sephora sale knocking the price down considerably.

Pros:

Functions as a dryer and styling tool in one

Supposedly good for adding volume to fine straight hair like mine

Can take hair from wet to dry curls/waves, saving me time with the curling iron - this is the biggest draw for me: one step styling!

Minimal heat means safer for hair (mine is highlighted so I need all the help I can get to stave off breakage)

Cons:

The price! YIKES! (At least I could get 20% off with the Sephora sale if I buy this week)

I've heard there's a learning curve (though I've got plenty of time to spare these days to figure it out...)

Has anyone tried the Airwrap or had any experience with other Dyson hair tools? I've watched plenty of YouTube videos but would love to hear more perspectives!
