I wash almost everything in the machine ( if it says hand wash only I use a delicate cycle or a wool cycle depending on what it is) and then line dry or occasionally flat dry on a towel. We use our iron about once a year and I think use a dry-cleaner less often than that. So for me I don’t. I currently don’t own one. </p> <p>Bizarrely, when I took my pleated silk skirt to the cleaners to get the bike grease out, she scolded me for having tried to do so myself with water, said I’d ruined the skirt. Not the fabric—the pleats. When I picked it up, the grease was gone, but pleats faded away in that area.
