The why???? -that is nobody's business- so I say be brave and DYOT! These pieces go well together, love the purple sequins with the floral shirt and a leather is a staple for the colds. It just has to be dark enough (meaning rather cloudy, moody) I think to get the mood for these kind of outfits or something else I cannot put my finger on to express myself the rightest. Maybe the negative feedback&nbsp; came from someone just returning from a resort vacation, or so... I have used velvet and sequins with a denim trucker jacket, opaque dark tights, and knits to make the look less formal. The best praise comes from children who love sparkle. I wore a long pinkish velvet skirt with a faux velvet tee and undressed jacket to teach a Saturday AM religion class to great reviews from the class. It was a cold snowy day, so I wore tall boots for more warmth. A mask and minimal makeup completed the ensemble. I have also worn sparkle with bulky sweaters and boots with a leather jacket or coat, mask and minimal makeup ( tinted moisturizer/ sun screen). Play down accessories and jackets. I hope this helps. I wore my rhinestone mesh top during the day and also various metallic tops, jeans and skirts. Also velvet. Why not? I think the best strategy is to casualise the outfit in some way. Your stompy boots look like just the thing. Leather jacket, backpack, slouchy jumper, distressed jeans, cargo pants are also good juxtaposition possibilities. It’s been ages since I’ve posted, this year hasn’t had a lot of fashion action for me. Until now! I recently decided I was a little bored of my look. I am currently experimenting with incorporating evening pieces into daytime outfits. For example, yesterday I wore a purple sequined skirt (shortish), with a floral shirt tucked, black tights, and black boots.<br /> Other days I have worn VERY intense lip colour with basic daytime outfits.<br /> I’ve also experimented with leather pants.<br /> I received mostly very positive feedback, however two rather negative pieces of feedback (“what IS that skirt?? But WHY are you wearing it??”)<br /> Has anyone else tried this strategy? Did it work well for you? Any ideas or suggestions? I don’t want to look too costumey….. but it is fun to bring a touch of glamour into the day… any comments appreciated :). </p>
