Oh my where to begin.

Well once again I am overwhelmed by Inge's monumental effort. I'm going to have to take some serious time going through all those links. I have tried some of those brands already with no luck, but certainly not all. I will give a detailed report when I'm done!

Laura, LC is my favorite brand when it comes to boots. I didn't find any shoes that looked comfy to me though, unfortunately.

Tanya, you and Ana will be shoe twins I could never see myself wearing those comfortably (though they are very pretty).

I guess I'll see what Angie has to say after our little consultation first, and then figure out a course of action. I feel like my feet have so many issues that I won't be disappointed or surprised if we don't have a resolution right at that very moment.

For me, Josef Seibel is extremely comfortable, but I agree with Shana, what I see at Nordstrom and other US stores is very old-ladyish. I am (pleasantly) surprised to hear they make more stylish shoes. Unfortunately I haven't been abroad in a few years and no trips are happening in the near future, but I'll keep it in mind.

I like Clarks Indigo line, they have some cute designs and they are comfortable.

Maya, those Ecco shoes are gorgeous, I am eying them myself, since I need to replace my 4-year old similar pair. Maybe we can be shoe twins

Oh neat, thanks for the links and brand recommendations, everyone (even though they're not for me, specifically). I'm trying to find cute comfy shoes as well. I have never heard of Joseph Seibel, but I will look for that brand next time I'm at Nordies.

I really like these Ecco shoes in whiskey:

I tried to look for comfort brands that still make cute shoes. Maybe some of these are too sporty or to 'Winterish' to your taste? Do browse the entire websites, I've only linked to a few examples.

Maya: I think it's entirely possible that Angie takes one look at your feet in NY and will be able to point you in the right shoe direction right there and then. She's good!!-)

You're giving me way too much credit here Maya;-) Can't wait to see the Campers you found!

As predicted, not many Euro shoe stores can be found online. There are a number of UK ones, but I'm not at all sure, you'd be able to find the shoes you're after there. Anyway, some examples FYI:

http://www.faith.co.uk/
http://www.hennyjames.co.uk/
http://www.aldoshoes.com/uk
http://www.dune.co.uk/catalogue/default.asp?r=43
http://www.frenchsole.com/index.php
(loads of ballet flats here, I hadn't heard of the brand, so I can't say how comfortable they are)

And then of course you have the websites of the large department stores like Dorothy Perkins, Next, Marks & Spencer:
http://www.next.co.uk/shopping.....2_02_01_08
http://www.dorothyperkins.com/.....ogId=20552
http://www.marksandspencer.com.....#038;top=Y

Esprit Belgium has a limited amount of shoes available:
http://www.esprit.be/index_bn.htm
(click on 'Schoenen')

Angie and Laura are right I think, maybe it would be best to concentrate on the Euro brands available in US stores?

I'll post some more shoes that I found (+ websites that might be interesting) below.

Hmm, this is useful. I'm filing away the brands Joseph Siebel and La Canadienne. I see Joseph shoes on clearance fairly regularly. I have yet to encounter La Canadienne in shoe stores here, though. How weird is that?

My dear, Maya. I am not avoiding your quezzie. I'm saving my suggestions for when I see those cute little feet. I feel that my tools will be sharper that way.

Inge, you took the words out of my mouth. Most Euro stores don’t even have websites. As for Josef Seibel and La Canadienne, Shana and Laura – my client bought two pairs of each of those at Nordies yesterday – closed shoes though, not open. It set her back $650 (but it was 4 pairs of shoes and she has super difficult feet). She would have spent double the amount out of sheer utter desperation. She wore the one pair last night and I received email this morning on how elated she was with her comfy fab looking shoes. She *cried* with happiness. It’s interesting that those were the brands that the both of you mentioned this morning.

Do not give up hope Maya. We will sort you out.

La Canadienne has a lot of cute spring/summer offerings that are available here, as does Ecco (and you liked their boots, right?). Both run in Euro size. Endless.com in particular has a bunch of La Canadienne sandals etc. right now that are on sale.

I find that La Canadienne runs a tiny bit small, if that helps.

Inge I have full faith in you. If you can't find anything then it simply doesn't exist.

I found some cute camper shoes on 6pm.com. I'll ask for input when I'm not on my iPhone.

I'll comment on this more elaborately tonight (first I need to get two translations out of the door), but I think Camper certainly is worth another try, Maya. And they ship to the US (in case you can't find the styles you like in NY).

The trouble with many European (shoe) stores is, that they still don't have a website/an online shop to order from. I find that quite annoying, because it would make things so much easier + it would be nice just to be able to browse their collections online.

I believe I have a few UK shoe stores bookmarked, and I'll have a look around for some more ideas.
Stay tuned;-)

I've had much better luck with shoes in Germany than American shoes in terms of comfort (8-12 hour kind). Unfortunately, they never seem to have the same variety here that they do there. For example, I bought I pair of Joseph Seibel shoes in Germany that I could literally walk in for 24 hours a day if I needed to do. I have found the same brand here at Nordstroms and even at DSW, but only the orthopedic looking ones - not the cuter styles. Anyway, the prices are expensive there too (especially with an unfavorable dollar).

For a sweet pair of comfy summer shoes, I'm willing to be quite extravagant. I skimp on boots because they're easy to find and I already have plenty of comfy pairs. But I don't own a single pair of true 8 hour summer shoes. I'd put myself on a season-long shopping ban for just one pair of great summer shoes.

I actually don’t know of any Euro shoe shops that ship, other than Duo boots. Perhaps Inge can enlighten us?

You’ll find plenty of Euro shoe brands in department stores, though. Unfortunately, I don’t think you’ll like their prices

Angie, I read in the other discussion that you said European shoes tend to be more comfortable than American shoes. Do you know of any Euro shops that ship to the US? I guess since Americans generally do not do as much walking as people do in Europe, it makes sense.

Between your comments and Inge's recommendations, I might have to give Camper another try for summer footwear.
