I am already giving away five items to YLFers (including one that is new with tags), and I'm sure there will be more in my closet that I will give away before my closet culling is through. I don't feel bad about returning it if it can still be sold, even at a discount, and it would be nice to get my money back. Since Marianna works there and says it's okay and the item won't be wasted, that's good enough for me.

I'm with Beth. Although Nordstrom has a fantastic return policy, maybe you can model it and make a YLBer a happy gal.

I guess I'm the only one, but I'd chalk it up to a learning experience and donate it. In fact, I have a jacket from last year's NAS hanging in my closet with tags still on. I'd been thinking about asking if anyone here wanted a free jacket before I sent it to the thrift shop.

Steph I think as long as the store's return policy allows for the return after that length of time it's fine to return it. If you really felt you didn't want to do this you could always try listing it for sale on Ebay.. but it's probably more straight forward to just return it. I am sure it will be placed for sale somewhere after you return it so someone will get a bargain and a dress they love. I think the situation with the makeup might be something to do with health and safety.. it's a little different to clothing. Good luck.

No problem! Go return it and don't worry about it at all. Two years is nothing -- I've taken returns dating back to 1999. Not kidding!

I returned to Nordstrom an unworn pair of shoes that I had bought at least 6 months previous. No questions, no problems.

I understand the reluctance to return something only to have it discarded by the company. Knowing that it will go to the Rack or Phoenix discount is good enough for me - return, guilt free!

Don't worry about it... people do it all the time. It might go to the Rack, or maybe Last Chance in Phoenix: http://www.yelp.com/biz/last-c.....el-phoenix. It will be sold at one of the two!

I was going through my closet yesterday (as seen in my giving away clothing post--size 0s and 2s, take a look to see if you want anything that remains), and I came across a dress I purchased during NAS two years ago. I never wore it and forgot to return it (rare for me, as I'm usually great about keeping track of my needed returns). It still has the tags on it. I know Nordstrom will take it back...but it's two years old. I feel guilty returning it. I mean, what will even happen to the dress? Will it just be shredded somewhere? Will it be sold at the Rack (in which case, I don't feel as bad)? Last week I returned two unused eyeshadows to MAC and they marked them and threw them in a bin. I said "those weren't opened, they are brand new" and the response was that once they leave the store they are considered unsellable. I felt really wasteful.

My boyfriend thinks I'm crazy and that I should just take it back and get my money. But I really am torn about this. Thoughts? (And to think that this post is coming from the self-proclaimed Queen of Returns.)
