Hmm well let me add to my reasoning then, I preferred the non black band look because when the band is there, my eyes beelined to that spot. When it's not there, my eyes beelined to the face area. I'd prefer looking at your face than at your calves. I love the print, not overwhelming on you. And I think the dress will work with a cardi or jacket to layer with if needed. Ok that's the end of my two cents.

I think it's funny how diametrically opposed Angie was to the rest of you (excluding Lisa...)...I'll think about it over the next few days.

It needs the black band, that's obvious. It will probably lose the nice shape if it's shortened... I vote pass.

oh... this one is difficult!
The dress is lovely, it's better with the black band, but it's too long... taylor at the waist is difficult because it has no seems at the waist..
I would pass..

Cute dress! Would it be an option to have it tailored at the waist, cut a section out and re-attach so you still keep the print on the bottom? Then again it may loose a bit of it's shape.

I think it needs the black band. Other than the length, I'm not sure the cut is best for you - it flares out too much at the bottom.

This is how it looks pinned up, without the black band. The length is fine this way, though the dress loses some of its punch without the band:

I think you would have to cut the black band off, shorten the dress, and reattach the black band, which would probably mess up the print. I like the style on you in general though, so I think you should continue to explore it.

I think your instinct is right, it does look long. Yikes, I don't know anything about hemming something like that. Its a gorgeous dress and really fun to look at.

The other dress I ordered from eshakti came in today. It's a shift style, which I've actually never worn before--I've always worn standalone dresses (as opposed to dress length tunics/dresses to be worn over leggings/jeans) with some sort of waist definition. It fits very well in the bust and shoulders, and the cotton is really nice...the only caveat is that it's that again it's a little too long...do you think getting it hemmed would ruin the colorblocking? I may still wear it tomorrow though as it's incredibly hot here and a mostly white shift dress sounds like the ticket.
