I'm actually waiting for cooler weather so I can try tucking or semi-tucking my J Jill silk blouses (way too hot for those right now). I'm curious to see if I really do find it flattering for my mid section.

Una - we could have a "tuck off" (boy...you really have to watch the spelling on that - lol)!

I'm also of the waistless-hipless type (rectangle tending toward apple) and I've learned to tuck into high-waisted skirts, but not yet pants. Maybe some since silk blouses will be part of NAS? I have casual cotton button-downs that work well as an outer layer for more structure than a cardigan, but they don't drape well when tucked in.

I'll be eagerly waiting for the comparison photos Una.
You and I have opposite body types, so it'll just be a learning exercise for me. As a method of styling, I haven't used tucking intentionally yet and still need to figure out how to go about it, i.e. avoid over emphasizing my hips. To tuck or not to tuck... you and Angie made me think I should not give it up.

Hey, you're right! I'm wearing a higher waisted skirt with a drape-y rayon top (that I thought was too short to tuck in) and I just tried it and it *does* make me look like I might have a waist in there somewhere, lol! Now for the perfect belt-loop filling-out belt!

Angie, I'm a slow learner but I'm so convinced now! The key for me really is drapier fabrics and a good strong belt. By having the sides of the shirt less tucked and the belt showing, it creates the illusion of a smaller waist and hips for me. I'm sure you could do the opposite as well.

Still not a fan of stiffer wovens, but am utterly in love with the Equipment blouses.

Thank you for persisting with the tucking advice!

*Scream* this from the roof tops, Una!

Tucking can be very forgiving around the midriff - precisely the opposite of what people think of tucking (that it attracts attention to a midriff). You just need the right top and bottom and killer belt.

(Every time I use the word tuck, I fear I'm one typo away from offensiveness!)

I've only recently converted to tucking shirts, thanks to the discovery of the half-tuck... But I've also realized that there are lots of other ways to tuck that really change up a look. Before now, I always thought tucking required a perfectly even line all around. But with the drapey silk shirts, it is so much fun to create a high-low effect by tightly tucking the buttoned placket just above the belt and then leaving the sides looser. Today's WIW is an example of that, which just works so much better for my waistless/hipless shape.

The ability to play around with these options has given me so much joy!

Anyone else find tucking amusing? (And no puns, please - I've thought of them all already!). ;-D
