"5 perfect items per season...cost be darned". I love this! I'm so happy with what is in my closet right now, that I don't feel I need anything, really, except those impossible to find white jeans.... However, I don't want to give up shopping, or adding to the collection as things wear out, as they are wont to do. I think You have provided me with a perfect goal!

BTW, love the look of those shoes. Too bad about the ankle fabric.

Hi April - I try to keep my feet happy and not abuse them at this point in my life. I'm tall with a very casual lifestyle, so honestly I never need to wear uncomfortable shoes, which for me includes high heels.

And inspired by all the fabbers here of high resolve, I've adopted a 2014 shopping strategy of 5 perfect items per season, cost be da*ned within reason. My wardrobe is in pretty decent shape, and I hope to only add special pieces. Hence, my questions about these particular shoes.

Thanks again to Gryffin for her thorough review.

April - just to chime back in. I thought the shoes were cool looking. Just the kind of thing I like. The sole was very squishy and comfy. They are very flat and as long as you don't mind that I would definitely give them a go. You might find them more flattering. I just did not think they were as pretty on as I was expecting and the ankle was too loose for me. But from a fussy foot perspective, the footbed was pretty dreamy!!

I love the look of those! (And I have to admit that as soon as I see "EF" one of my hands moves to stifle a yawn... just not that interested in the shapeless, flowy vibe that seems to be her trademark.) But I do love those shoes.

On the other hand, gryffin has actually had them on her feet, and I'm inclined to listen to those concerns about the cut and the fabric of the strap.

Do you have extremely particular feet? My feet are so fussy that I am inclined to try any shoe that looks good if it's somewhat flat and stable and has a cushy footbed.

Sorry to be the voice of doom CC!! But that was my honest take. If you see them IRL definitely try them on. Truthfully, I think we can do better.

Joy, I agree. Seems like a possible venture into avant gardeness.

But Gryfin, thank you so much. Your experience might explain why it's possible to buy them on sale already. I only wear flat shoes, so like you was exited about a new style. But I'll pass.

CC - I just ordered these and returned them. My thought: the good they were well padded and comfortable. The heel is very low and I wish it had been a smidge higher but that was not a deal breaker. I am usually a size 7 occ 7.5. I read the reviews and ordered the 7.5 which was the correct size. The bad: The front is cut straight across the front of the foot at the widest point which I did not think was flattering. The ankle strap was a weird fabric material. Not the nice elastic type stuff gentle souls uses so it does not conform and it was too loose so my foot was slipping. They were just not as cute on me as I thought they would be. I don't do open toed shoes ever and I was so excited about these. But I could not get them packed up fast enough. I have a medium to slightly wide foot and slim ankles, if that helps for sizing. The soles were very splushy. If you try them I'd be interested to hear your take on them!! Good luck!

I've not seen them but love the look. I could see some of our more avant garde members sporting them. EF footwear is made in Italy of fabulous leather, from what I've read. No barbed wire to mar the hides.

These seem like a possibility as a seasonal transitional shoe that's a little different. They're mainly available in black, though a few sites have them in a sort of taupey color. Has anyone seen or tried them?
