Sorry to chime in late. Just wanted to say that I agree with everybody here that the fit is perfect--must better on you than the model in the photo--and that you've accessorized the dress perfectly. You look fab! Super-slim clutch bags can be a little restricting, but they do look streamlined and dressy, and the one you've chosen is a beauty. Would an inexpensive, flatter pair of sunglasses fit in it? Also, you may be able to tame the sliding dress panels (if you think tacking the inner panel might cause distortion or damage to the fabric) by sitting mindfully: hold the bag against your front as you sit down, and keep it on your lap while seated.

All beautiful (if problem of that possible malfunction is solved properly)! The clutch is so so special, love it so much more than would habe been an uni(white for ex). The pattern is glamorous, adds interest and matches both dress and shoes to perfection! Love pearls to it and as dress has a flapper vibe to me, it would look great with a longer (or multiple strands), too. Have a nice time and please show us IRL picties at the wedding, too!:-)

The dress is gorgeous on you. I love the combination of the bag, shoes and dress. My special occasion bags hold nothing. Maybe a lipstick, hotel key card, Visa and a $20.00. I don't think I can even get my reading glasses in them.
Special occasion bags are jewellery. Decorations really. That is the way I see it. I have gone to thrift stores and seen some great ones but they are all tiny.

Love the dress, love the whole outfit. I don't know how essential the sunglass option is for a special occasion bag but if you can let that go you have a very pretty, complete outfit for the wedding and one you could easily wear again.

The color is gorgeous and significant without being loud, and the style is very graceful.

I think this dress looks great on you -- EF dresses are like that, not meant to be fitted. The color is gorgeous and your shoes and clutch are perfect. I do understand your frustration with the purse but if you can work around it's limitations it looks like you're all set.

Hi UF --

Ok, you know I'm very picky about fit so FWIW I think this still looks GREAT on you with your weight loss. I believe I voted keep back in the day because while loose, the fit across the shoulder was very good. And that still looks good.

What about from the back? I'm thinking you'd still be in the clear...I mean I doubt it would show your shape, but I doubt it would be too baggy (seems as if it'd just hang more).

Re panels -- is a slip out of the question? Granted I wear slips under everything but esp under wrap dresses or dresses like this. If nothing else, slip shorts should keep you covered long enough to whisk errant layers back across your lap.

I also love the bag with/for this. I have zero evening or dressy bags that could fit my bulky sunglasses case. Phone, ID/credit cards, lip product is about it. I just leave the glasses on top of the bag on the table and if I'm traveling by car the case stays there. If some other way I try to pay attention (I suppose you could always McGuyver something with an elastic and string to keep them adhered to your clutch so you don't walk off with them!).

Have fun!

Thank you for the votes of confidence!
I will likely charge ahead. It IS supposed to fit “ oversized “ as they do say online. I still have some issues wishing everything should be perfect, but I don’t really mean to sound like Eeyore.
And with my schedule, I really am out of shopping time , even for delivery, and likely to make a bigger mistake.
Maybe Angie will weigh back in.

THIS. I love this for a summer wedding - the bag and necklace make it summer and it's NOT fussy. Sometimes a summer formal look can be too much - beading, frills, easter egg colors, etc. OR, it can veer too beachy. This is just spot on. And depending on your climate, you can wear the dress with fall or winter pieces to stretch it throughout the year. EF pieces wear quite well, so you should have the dress for many years to come. Well done!

This is a beautiful summer wedding look - I'd do this in a heartbeat! Dresses that don't cooperate make me crazy, and fussing with the crossover panels is too bad, considering the cost of EF dresses. Regarding the bag - it is so pretty - but I couldn't imagine a summer bag that didn't fit your sunglasses . Not sure how $$ it was - Ted Baker bags are a small fortune in Canada - and JAileen's idea of popping into a thrift store is a great one.

The tortured tale of the EF dress.
I got this dress awhile back is the smallest regular size Nordies had. It’s supposed to be oversized and Angie and all the kind fabbers approved. Yet I was compelled to try a smaller size from Macy’s.

I thought that one was TOO small.

Sidebar related: this dress has lovely lines but is prone to wardrobe malfunction due to its semi- wrap style which is not secured . When I sit down, the front drape panel falls to the right and the inner panel falls to the left, thus exposing me from waist down!
I think that is fixable by tacking the inner and outer panels together at one or two points but I think it is best to do that at the inner side seam so can tack edge of one to seam allowances and thus not stitch or pull on the actual body of the silk fabric. Hence I need enough fullness at the hip for this which my original size ( XS) allowed. Plus this size has better length.

Despite that I still wished it fit a little snugger through the armholes and neckline. It’s a dress in which I really have to “ stand tall with shoulders back” ( which is of course how I SHOULD stand) because if I slump it looks saggy.
Fast forward to my recent exercise better eating program and a small weight loss and so I thought it might be looking TOO oversized but now there is no XXS available. In my panic- whack I tried a petite XS and frustratingly, I like how it fitted up top better but it’s just too short. Not indecent, but just not me.

Thus IS my only available dress for an upcoming family wedding. My plan is white twisted pearl necklace, which brightens and summerizes , and I have shoes in the style shown but a softer beigier metallic, which are dressier but still practical for walking, standing, dancing.

Now if you’re still here, see the TB clutch Find.

I don’t have a clutch or bag I like for this outfit and could have done white, but didn’t find “ the one”, plus I had this vision of something with white and beige or something that would sort of tie things together. ( if I were wearing with black shoes I would consider a black & white graphic)

I ordered this one knowing the photos showed it was VERY slim, meaning won’t hold much, but was hoping. Also it’s quite faux material.

Well— the color and pattern are PERFECT for the outfit but yes, it’s super slim and rigid. Will only hold a few slim things . It will hold reading glasses for example but not sunnies. I’m also annoyed that the wrist strap is attached on what I consider the “ wrong” end. But as an accessory it does add a great touch- ties everything together and pops against the red, while dress brings out the bit of same red in the purse.

So now I have a dilemma as to whether to keep it. I just wish it were more versatile size because the color/pattern would actually be versatile for me with other wardrobe berry colors and pales in spring and summer. It’s an important family wedding and I’m not MOB or MOG hence don’t have to be the “pack mule” and I can afford to be “ impractical “ for this one part of the outfit ( and I can repeat the entire outfit for some other occasions) so at this late date I might just talk myself into it.

Comments appreciated if you’re still here!

ETA added photos but not slumping. The creases are packing creases--have not ironed/steamed yet and have not tacked the layers together (have not cut tags yet) so that might help it look smoother.
