That top is stellar on - gorgeous! Sorry to hear about the dress though. I do find I have to go down a size in EF.

Yes, Gaylene, I agree. I think I toted about 20 pieces of EF into the dressing room and ended up buying two. These were at Nordies and were my first EF pieces. So I suppose there is something to B&M shopping and paying the Nordies premium. Hope I didn't make the SA too mad! It was more of an exploratory experience, I like to think.

Well, Susie, I should have said in the post that I snagged amiable's photo of the top and reused it for my post (without her permission, but it was already posted to the forum and I did chop her head off for good measure, lol) -- but I assure you it does really fit well! I can't wait to wear it. Probably tomorrow

Yay! It looks great on you! Isn't the fabric luscious?

The dress didn't work for me either

That first top definitely ought to be in your wardrobe. Glad it found its rightful home!

I know what you mean about EF, though. I find that trying her garments on is really the only way to see how they will drape on my body. The SAs at the local EF store probably groan when they see me because I'll literally take everything into the dressing room to give it a try. Sometimes what I think will work looks terrible, while stuff I think will look terrible looks good. I also find that combining a couple of her pieces sometimes ends up elevating a so-so items into something great, while other times a piece improves remarkably once I put it with my own jeans or tops. I also find that going up and down in sizes can often change the look quite dramatically. So many variables to consider, but when her stuff works, it really works so I keep making the effort.

The hit first. I picked up the EF top from style exchange via amiable who bought it from Susie (phew, that was a mouthful!). I think this gorgeous top has finally found it's permanent home. It fits perfectly. It's light as a feather. It's breezy. It's fluid (yay!) and has gorgeous trim around the edges. And it has arm coverage, too! Total score!! The bright color is right up my alley, too.

Now, on to the miss. I'm visiting family and roasting in the heat (though it has cooled off a bit). I ordered the drapey EF dress Shannon and amiable had good luck with but as we say on ylf - it did NOT get me. Not sure if I needed a petite or size down but the fit was not flattering on me at all. My takeaway is that I need some sort of darting even if the piece is looser. Rusty ebay user here bought it without the option to return. So it's on style exchange for anyone that may be interested.

EF is gorgeous stuff but really hard to get right for this newbie to drape and flow. Maybe if should limit my EF buys to bricks and mortar stores or at least vendors with more generous (as in, existing) return policies.

As Angie says, onward!
