Oh wow! Knock their socks off!

I don't just say this because the black and plaid and photographic tee appeal to my punk heart... but all three are beyond flattering to you. Total knock out.

I had a rough week, but ladies now, you made my end of it!:-)

Crutcher: Vous etes tres gentille, merci pour les compliments.

Suz: Thak you, it was not the case actually, but I will definetely repeat the first outfit in another setting for hunting down some compliments:-). Plaid bottoms never a problem, but am happy to report that my new plaid shirt is getting much more love than I taught. And, I will confess, I still love my graphic tee, too.

Aubergine: I was surprised to find out my new plaid shirt is getting much more love than I thought. It's a thicker cotton, so it has a drape and feels cozy- but it is NOT flanel, so I can dress it up, or down-as needed. Also, for dressing up I am looking to layer it for reducing the amount of the pattern showcasted. Now, I actually think the plain shirts I have(except denim) are washing me out and are usually too crisp and stiff, or too delicate for my frame. And, I always crave texture, lately. You surely know, not all button downs are the same, and so, not all plaid shirts are the same:-). You have to find your own special one!

ElizabethP: One word(two actually). Thank You!:-)

Angie: Thanx for stopping by. Yes, it's great fun meanwhile also very instructive. I especially posted this one for that matter. Hope to encorage others to try something new. Thanx for the love for the second outfit.

Shannon: You are too kind, but I'll be honest, I love it, too:-).

Viva: Blushing:-). I'm not at all a pattern-or pattern mixing girl(other than patterned thights or so). How fun! That one found me when putting on things by random:-).

Claire: How, You don't see gaping? Then pls.put on some better specs(just joking:-))! You don't see the gap because I secured it with a security needle from the backhand. I hate gaping, so I do this with all my shirts on the otherwise rare occasions I wear them. Ref. my new specs, thank you! They are really growing on me. Colder seasons help especially, then I wear mainly darks, anyway.

Lyn, I'm so happy that you're having fun with your plaids! You absolutely can wear them. I love the plaid pencil skirt, that has to be versatile, and you look just fine in a button-front shirt (I don't see any gapping). I really love your graphic T-shirt though. That one stole the show for me. Your specs are gorgeous too, and help to bookend black on the bottom. It's good to see you post!

All three outfits are great! I like how you've managed to find a plaid shirt that can dress up. Also love the textured hose in #3.

I haven't tried a plaid shirt yet for similar reasons to why you hesitated (bad luck with button-downs, plus a wardrobe where it wouldn't really be a natural fit), but I do like how they look, and you definitely make it sound tempting!

Lyn, this is a fantastic look on you! Love!! Did you get compliments on it? I sure hope so! I love how the hose faintly mimic the pattern of the plaid. Also the details on those booties are great!

And I remember that wonderful graphic tee outfit of yours -- pure styling genius!

It seems that plaid now has a place in your closet for both top and bottom! Good for you for persisting to solve your own puzzle and making the trend work so well for you.

First, I have to eat up my comment from an earlier blogpost on plaids:-)http://youlookfab.com/2014/09/.....aid-shirt/.

As you can see in the last 2 rows of picties, I usually didn't have a problem with plaids on my lower half:

-second row is a new chuncky black+metallic thread and zipered on front cardi and an older mixmedia graphic tee.

-the third row is repeating a 2 years old outfit(only scarf, specs and booties new). This is a classic example of debombshelling a plaid pencil with an embelished sweatshirt, and hah, will have to repeat this for Santa:-).

Both outfits were worn to work.

BUT have had MAJOR problems, with the plaid shirt...

As it comes out from my comment back then I didn't even had the intention to make it work for my lifestyle. Button downs are not my thing in general, not to speak of plaid shirts. But, it bugged me a lot as I started paying attention to details in Angie's insistently comming up blog posts about it and discovered that a plaid shirt can be styled not only for casuals, but dressier, too.

I lately figured out the key was a monochromatic look and a medium scale strict pattern. So, here it is my new, bl&w&grey gingham shirt styled to make it work for my office(which is the local head of a somehow creative industry). Surely, it's a classic and overused silouette for me, but the pencil is a waxed black denim, the jacket a crushed effect moto like and there are some houndsthooth patterned tights with some black booties(new this year), too.

Should I mention the happiness factor was through out the roofs. For all the 3 outfits! You can clearlytell how much fun I had eventually with my plaids.

Thanx for reading so far, and be sure all the comments are very much appreciated. I always learn and find out something new from them!
