Beth Ann, I think you look beautiful in both. Funny, I was just discussing that very shirt yesterday, with a co-worker. She was wearing the red version yesterday, and I love it. She was kicking herself for not getting the green, and I was kicking myself for not getting both of them!! (so if you decide to give it up... )

Agree with the above... some heels, slimmer jeans, or a jacket would give you a more structured look. Or a semi-tuck maybe?
#1 is spectacular! I'm speechless:). You look so gorgeous.

#2 also looks good. It's a different silhouette. I like the idea of altering the sleeves. The colour is lovely. I wonder if this top worn over a slimmer leg jeans and a bit of a heel might be more pleasing to your eye?

I like both outfits. #1 touch nothing it's great. The blouse in #2 is pretty, but the wrong length (just not long enough to be a tunic) for untucked. Try it semitucked or blousoned with a pencil.

LUV your Easter outfit! The floral top reminds me of my jewel tone sheath dress which I wore to attend Easter service, so I'm calling us Easter twins. : )
The cobalt skirt fits you so well and is a great pop of color with the blouse. Such an inspiring outfit!

The second outfit looks great to me. It is waist surrendering but still FAB. How would it look with your grey vest left unbuttoned?

So many encouraging and helpful comments!

FC, Sveta and Denise: I think, aside from the bootcuts with flats, the second outfit lacks the optimal structure and definition for my frame and style. This is why my style rubric includes "form with flow."

I also wonder if part of the problem isn't that I'm cut in half with the proportions of the second outfit. Perhaps I should be happy I'm not covered in food after cooking for a dozen people!
You look great in your Easter outfit. I so want that blue skirt! I ordered one similar that didn't work out.

To my eye there's something about the length of the green top that isn't optimal. Could you half-tuck it? I like the idea of adding a jacket.

Beth Ann, I think the key is the structure of the outfit. The first outfit has blazer and pencil skirt which add a lot of structure. The second outfit lacks structure in both jeans and the shirt.
Now, it does not mean it is a bad outfit, just what is your level of tolerance for oversized look. Pop a fitted blazer on top of that green blouse and see the difference!
Agree with the others, #1 is gorgeous!

As for the ON top. As an hourglass with a bust, I have given up on these georgette or silk tunic tops. I sold them all on eBay. They cling too much to my bust, hide my waist and make me look bigger. The one way I could make them work was tucked, but then again only one of them worked like this.

I do have silk tops with button down style, bust darts and a thicker fabrication and kept them. They work on me, as the fitted design is more flattering on me. The key seems to be darts to accommodate my bust and to better fit my waist and not look like a tent.

Both outfits are lovely on you. I agree the first one is super fab. The second one only suffers by comparison, in my view. If I saw photo 2 alone in a post, I would say it's a gorgeous top on you. It's a surrendered-waist look, that's all, and they're just not as slimming on anyone, I don't think, as a waist-defining look. To use the blouse in a waist-defining look, you'd just need to layer something (jacket, cardi, vest?) over it, and it would take some experimenting to find the right one. You look great, and glad you were able to enjoy the bunny cake!
Oooooh! ideas on how to style my cobalt skirt. Love # 1. Don't give up on the green top, or the jeans. I find boot cuts shortening, unless styled with very high shoes, boots, or sandals. The pointier the toe, the better. This may not be foot friendly, but does seriously address the frump factor of the style.
It started with the alarm at 5am! Yep. For the first time since the 80's it was a Sunrise service. My kids wanted to experience going to church in the dark, and so off we went! The service was wonderful and the breakfast afterward was yummy.
I wore:
Peplum Jacket, worn unbuttoned (still some shaping that's hard to see here)
VC skirt (not the tube, this one is a sturdier ponte)
Patent belt
sleeveless blouse from Carson's (newish)
microfishnets from No Nonsense
Aerosole Peep Toes

That afternoon, I cooked for 12 at my house, and, despite 40 degree temps, wanted to wear something cool and Springy in the kitchen.
I wore:
ON georgette top
Denizen bootcuts
Metallic flats

OK -- The camera angle is the same and while, yes, I realize I lost the heels, I need to know why I look like I gained 30 pounds BEFORE I ate Easter dinner. I suspect that bootcuts with blousy was a mistake, and the flats didn't help matters. I also plan on moving the buttons on the cuffs, so I can push the sleeves up to my elbows. Is this top hopeless on it's first outing, or can I learn how to style it in more flattering fashion?

P.S. Said photo didn't keep me out of the bunny cake.
