I was afraid there would be hearts breaking all over YLF land tonight.</p> <p>Beth, I used Rit. I started with the Rit formula for Pantone's Aluminum but decided that was a bit too dove gray. So I added more tan and more yellow, then doubled the amount of dye in the water to make the color a bit deeper.</p> <p>I should add that the jeans were 95% cotton/5% elastane. I threw two other white "extras" in the dye too. The 100% cotton ribbed tank from ON turned out taupe, and the Foxcroft 100% cotton no-iron tunic turned out a kind of grayish green. Crying that I tossed my fave white tee a few weeks ago b/c it had a couple makeup splatter spots on it. I haven't dyed anything since Summer camp in the 70s. No clue what I did right or wrong (except perhaps to not risk more than I could afford to lose). I watched a couple you tube videos and used the bucket method rather than the stove or washing machine. I suppose absolutely anything could have gone wrong.
