I've had good results with Dylon, which might be the same people who make iDye, it seems like. They've got different 'lines' depending on whether the item you're dyeing is mostly natural fibers or synthetic. (I think I got the Dylon from createforless.com)

I have also heard great things about Procion from people who do discharge dyeing and fabric art and such. The folks at Dharma are really helpful and they've got detailed dyeing instructions for all sorts of fiber combos on their website.

Be sure to strip the sweatshirt first, otherwise the bleached areas will be lighter than the unbleached areas even post-dye.

Tintex (available in Canada whereas RIT is not) works in a pinch; otherwise, Procion dyes from Dharma. Their shipping is fairly reasonable and fast to Canada.

I also liked iDye. Don't use RIT; it always seems to come out streaky.

I've heard good reviews about Procion and iDye.

No, I promise, I am NOT dying my white jeans!

Hubby spilled some bleach on one of his sweaters. Not a "good" sweater, just a light fleece sweatshirt. But he happens to love the weight and fit of this one and it is no longer available. So now he would like to dye it.

It's a rust colour that doesn't really suit him all that well; he's thinking of going slightly darker and cooler -- a burgundy or something like that.

What brand of dye do you recommend? I think the fabric is cotton/poly.
