Thanks for the info, Steph! I'm 5'10, so I think I will avoid the mini length. I actually saw it on ebay and I'm going to skip buying there because I want to make sure I get the real thing. It was good for getting ideas of what's out there, though.

Hopefully I'll be able to post pics soon... I'm saving up!

I also own a Julian wrap dress--mine is a green and black print from her "vintage" collection. (Here it is on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/DIANE-VON-.....efid=store)
Mine is the silk jersey as well, and I agree that it's a great fabric. I actually didn't even realize it was silk until I read this thread and checked my tag--I had assumed it was cotton.

I'm only 5'1, and I have very short legs, and the regular Julian was long on me--it hit me at about upper-middle calf. I had to get it altered to knee length. I hadn't even known that a mini length existed--my guess is that it would work well for someone like me. I'm not sure how tall you are, though, so it's hard to really advise.

I would definitely recommend ordering a size up (especially for anyone well-endowed on top).

Sarah, that was an incredible find!

Ellen, here's the photo of my Julian dress (navy/cream print). I'm 5'6" too, with pretty long torso, so things tend to hit me a little higher then they do people with normal torso length.

I wanted to add too about ordering one size up: My dress is a 12, and I couldn't wear it until I was a 10. But it still fits great as an 8. That's the beauty of a wrap dress!

Wow, Sarah, I would be thrilled if I found it for that! And thanks for letting me know about the length, because I've been debating the mini, but if you're 5'6 and the regular length hits above your knees, it will be higher than that for me as I am 5'10.

I have the Julian dress in a black/white print. The regular length fits just above my knees (I'm 5'6"). I love this dress and love that I found it at a thrift shop for $13.99 even more.

Happylife, I was looking at that woman's blog, and also checking ebay stores, but I'm thinking I'd prefer to get one from a company I'm sure of. I'm going to watch for sales and possibly check while I'm in NYC - I'm going in about 3 weeks.

Thanks for the info, Ana, I will try Neiman Marcus Last Call. I am so excited about the Julian... I think I will wear it all the time. I'm thinking black, though part of me wants chocolate. I'm not sure yet which one. Chocolate is almost as versatile as black, but a bit warmer.

Plumeria, I'm pretty sure I've seen faux wraps while I've been looking, but I could be wrong on that.

Does anyone know if there is a "faux" wrap DVF dress? I look better in wrap dresses are are faux fixed wrap rather than self wrapping dresses. (Does that make sense?)

I definitely will! I'm excited too because it's not a wrap dress and the print is very bold, so it's sort of out of my box a bit. :D

By the way Tanya, I was at NM yesterday scoping out the new DVF stuff, and all I could think was, "This is a Tanya shirt, this is a Tanya dress, OMG, this is so Tanya." Hee hee.

Hmm.....I personally would look at Neiman Marcus, or Diane's website:

http://www.dvf.com

Also, I know Tanya gets some of them on sale at various online retailers. Neiman Marcus Last Call is great and you can order from them through NM website.

http://www.neimanmarcus.com/st.....&st=s

Unless you're VERY familiar with a brand, I probably wouldn't spend a lot of money to buy something designer from someone other than a reputable outlet. There are a lot of copies out there. Copies aren't necessarily bad, but you don't want to drop major bank on them. Does that make sense?

I just ordered a DVF dress, I'm so excited! I ordered an 8, which is the size I normally wear, but the style is A line and kind of swingy, so I figured it might run big. Even still it might be too small. Her sizing is all over the place for me--some shirts are true to size, and others (the wrap dresses as Tanya said) have been way too small. I've had to go up a size or even 2 sometimes. If you could afford it, ordering 2 sizes and sending the one that doesn't fit back would be a great way to go (unfortunately I have to order them one at a time in order to stick to my allowance).

EDIT: I just went and looked at the Julian wrap dress. That is a great dress. Very versatile. Are you thinking of the black or chocolate? You could wear it when you go somewhere without the kids, like on a date or something.

So I guess if I normally wear an 8 I will order a 10?

Btw, the silk jersey does not feel or look like regular silk. I believe that the material is knitted, not woven ( not 100% sure). And it's almost mate, it has a very subtle luster to it.

The label says " dry clean only" I am afraid. I have heard that when a label says " dry clean" you may get away with gentle hand washing, but if it is " dry clean only" than it should be dry cleaned. Angie would know more about this than me, I'm sure.

I haven't tried hand washing them and would not, I believe it is too much of a risk.

That's great, Tanya, thanks for answering! I have been debating between trying an 8 or 10 so I will try the 10 first and see how that works. And I will hold out for the silk jersey.

Here I am Sorry, I have had a hectic day today - big presentation ( no sleep last night) and I have just started going trough the threads.

I own one wrap dress ( Julian style) and three wrap tops from DVF ( Jill and Jillanna) and they are all silk jersey. I personally prefer it to the other material, it is lovely, and most of the DVF fans share that opinion. The classic wrap styles tend to run a bit small. I am usually 2/XS and my DVF items are 4. A good recommendation I have heard is to look at her own size chart and size up one size from it, it worked perfectly for me. The seasonal dresses have random inconsistent styling. With the wrap styles you can sometimes get away with a size smaller or a size bigger.

I am not familiar with Julian mini I am afraid. And I'd say they are certainly worth the money, you would wear them forever! The silk jersey is dry clean only.

I hope this helped somewhat.

I'd like to get a DvF "Julian" wrap dress in black - it would fit my style and lifestyle so well, I think I'd get a lot of wear out of it.

Does anyone know the length of the Julian Mini vs. the Julian? And should I be looking for the polyester/viscose jersey fabric or the silk jersey? And does this style tend to fit big/small/ true to size?

And really, if you have one, do you think it's worth the money?

I LOVE wearing wraps because they create much-needed curves for me and I think it's time to splurge on a winner!
